Luckily we did not give him a five year contract - 18 month payout is not bad considering no transfer activity this month.

We would be wise to only give Xabi 3 years as well. Coaches do not work out at new clubs way too often regardless of their pedigree.

I am not sure, but I also think Xabi is more flexible than just 3 at the back. I don’t mind 3 at the back, but we would need be buying a lot more defenders than we already desperately need, for sure.
