Job security - arne

If he plays Cunha and mbuemo he's got some players who can pick a lock and are actually in form.

There will be some mad 3-2, 4-3 nonsense, but they're coming away with more points than we will

Lets see. Today they score 3 goals from 3 shots. They're still a very shit team and overly reliant on Fernandes.
If they finish above us its criminal, so sacking Slot should be first on the agenda tomorrow morning for FSG.

A good time for a new manager is going into a tough game, nothing to lose really, expectations are low, and always a chance you come out of it well. I wonder if we'll have a new manager for the City game.

Let’s hope so, and that he is joined by a new centre back who can play right back as well.

My concern with Alonso is also that he has not really failed in the way Klopp and Rafa did. Madrid doesn't count. When the wheels go off at some point, how will he react? Does he have those reserves of experience that he can draw upon?
Not sure if this (inc. that 4-0 defeat to us) counts as “wheels going off” but just sharing 😉

After Leverkusen’s 35-game unbeaten Bundesliga streak ended with a 3-2 loss to RB Leipzig early in that campaign, the team went 1 win and 5 draws in 6 matches, leaving them 9 points behind Bayern Munich after 10 games.

That 1-win/5-draws stretch stands out as Alonso’s weakest sequence in charge of Leverkusen — notably in contrast to the long unbeaten runs and title success that otherwise defined his tenure.

Getting feedback from Idrissi, Boadu, Nelson, and Kokcu compared to Tah, Xhaka, Grimaldo, Wirtz, and Frimpong is a whole different ball game imo too. 😛

Latest rumor doing the rounds is that the decision has been made and its all about timing.
If there is any truth in that you'd think he's off after the Newcastle game as we then have 8 days until City at Anfield.

Pretty decent window for a change.

I wonder if a new manager would want to be able to field centrebacks.

I don't know. It's presumptuous, we really need to make sure we do things with the correct timing.

The more time the new guy gets the better. Even to strong arm the accountants to pay for at least someone in this window.

Be mad if he's sacked and then we spunk money on jacquet and a winger

Chance would be a fine thing
