Ha, that would be cover for the useless Arbeloa he replaced then?

Real Madrid? That'll be 15m minimum then, those cunts pay over the odds to every other club bar us.
Agreed in principle. In practice £15 mill.wouldn't be enough for me. I'd want what we paid for him as a bare minimum, and my opening price would be some way above that.
If you could walk into a meeting room and ask for more than 15m for Glen Johnson JJ, while keeping a straight face, then I think you should be leading the negotiation team.

He's been learning spanish for a while now........

If only he'd learn defending.

Playing for Real in the Spanish League means he probably wouldn't need this attribute most weeks.

Where is Sergio Ramos playing these days, ie, position ?
I thought he was first choice right-back ?
He is.....being cover for Arbeloa would put Johnson in the B team. Ramos started today at centre half....but he usually always plays right back, with Carvalho and Pepe in the centre. Arbeloa plays around a quarter of their games! Also....Johnson wouldnt take Ramos' place.....because as much as Ramos can't defend...he's still better at it than Glenjo! And he's very decorated honours wise to prove it!
Long term I'd be happy to lose Johnson as long as Kelly can be relied upon to stay fit enough to replace him. If not then it just creates another position we'd need to fill, and Madrid being how they are we'd no doubt get screwed on the deal and end up with next to nothing in terms of cash.
At this stage we should only be getting rid of players who are totally surplus to requirements, total liabilities or worth a LOT more in cash than on the pitch. Johnson fulfills none of those criteria yet.

Johnson is being desperately under rated by a number on this site. He's fast becoming the new Lucas for no apparent reason. His defending is not world class but it's not woeful and his attack is far better than most give him credit for. He finds space up forward better than many and makes some excellent runs. He's not in fashion at this point for some reason but selling him to Madrid would be pointless for us.
Although personally I've never been that keen I agree that we shouldn't be selling him now but neither is he necessarily a 'must keep' in my opinion.
There may well come a point soon when we have others to do his job as well as him and we can still get a decent fee out of him. Isn't that one of the ways Wenger has done well? Selling players when they still have at least something to offer but at the best price he can get?
Add to that Johnson may actually want to move to Spain at some point.
It'd be wrong to sell him now but next year might be a different story
Johnson was stranded 1st half when Henderson went walkabout, and 2nd half he marginally improved though he still had little or no willingness to attack.
