The Descent of Darwin (2025)

So, where will Darwizzy land?

Linked today Napoli - catastrophic if he heads to Italy, where we'll be screwed of a decent payday.

Hopefully the Saudis or Athletico (cash & darwin for alvarez) help make this a good exit for player and club.

I genuinely wish the best for Darwin. His confidence has been shot for a long time but I've never felt like he wasn't giving 100%

He also played an important role in some key wins this season, and made some great memories last season with Newcastle away and Forest away.

Let's hope these have helped somewhat preserve his transfer fee.

The best case scenario is some player plus cash deal for Alverez, but I'll be amazed if they agree to anything we think will be reasonable.

So Saudi is the best option. Fuck Italy.

Yup, he's tried his best ... it's just not worked out.

Nice sentiment but the only thought that came to mind whilst reading that was "ugh".

He's been an awful waste of time and money and whilst I know what you mean, can't help but think important role" is a joke and memories... nah, not for me.

Although his ability to fuck up chances has always been high, he also had plenty of ability to make chances and cause havoc... it's a shame we never managed to smooth out the problems cos the lad has got all the tools.

And yes... <assuming> we can get good money for him... I'd wish him well

On the whole - not an important role. But for some important wins I think he made a difference. On balance its a fail but there were some things to look fondly on given we ultimately won the league (i..e he hasn't cost us the title this season) and we can move on with replacing him.

I guess Napoli would have Osimhen (sp) as a potential bargaining chip....I think he's still under contract to them unless he moved to Turkey permanently

I like him, and he has the raw talent, but it just gets lost somewhere along the way. I hope he does well wherever he ends up, he's a nice lad and a popular figure around the players and the fans. Keni is right though, it's been a disaster signing in reality.

I think if Jones or another less popular player was whining on Twitter about his lack of game time the way Donkey has then everyone would be calling for his head. But yeah he's a great guy.

He has been really bad this season, Slot is partly responsible - Klopp showed as much faith in the guy as possible to keep his confidence up, but I think Slot just gave up after a few months and though "... this guy is fucking thick - I don't want him.." - so this season we really have seen him descend into shit.

Nunez has had both management styles used and failed to respond to either. He didn't improve with an arm around the shoulder from Klopp and he hasn't responded to firmer treatment from Slot. I don't think you can say that's on either manager, we've tried, he just hasn't been good enough. I think there is 'some' talent, there was a fine point made by Pep Lijnders last season when he tried to tell Nunez he'd become a good source of creativity, but he didn't really push on from that either.

He’s a good lad and decent player but he is now, and was when we signed him, a £35m forward. Not his fault we overpaid for his services.

We bought on potential and for a while he teetered on the edge of becoming a beast.

But he didn’t and he’s now fucking dreadful. Shame

he comes across as a bit of a dumbass and not very serious about improving his game, i struggle to summon any positive words for players like Darwin. they’re incredibly frustrating to support, im just relieved when they go in all honesty.
I managed to determine that he's an idiot the first time I heard him talk and I don't even understand Spanish.

This is the guy who introduced himself to us by getting red carded.
Then swung a chair at fans, jumped into the crowd and wanted a fist fight.

His expression every time the camera zooms in on his face during games:

Also, the Noooonez chant is fucking shit.

haha yes, he could stink the place out and it doesn’t seem to register with him a lot of the time.

first time i seen him kick a ball for us he gave me Ali Dia vibes, obviously he’s a real life professional international footballer but the level of general play was just not close to deserving of the price tag.

He's been really crap in all honesty, he can't even hit the target anymore. You wonder what he does in training. It's amazing someone with so much raw talent can do so badly.

He needs to go pronto and we need a good number 9.

He has pace and power. I’m sure he will do well in another team, but it’s just one of those signings that’s sadly not worked out. I wish him well.
