Yep, at this rate Rafa will sell him. It's not the first time he's let the team down.

The FA need to deal with players that pick up the ball and don't return it immediately to the opposition at free kicks, throw in's and corners. There have been lots of examples this weekend of players purposely slowing the game down or trying to wind up the opposition by snatching the ball, purposely refusing to give it back before rolling it into open space or chucking it high in the air to another player 5 metres away .

Alli clearly kicked the ball away which resulted in Shelvey getting fired up and acting like the dumb prick that he is.

In Aussie Rules football, if a stoppage occurs and a player is in possession or picks up the ball after the whistle, the umpires give them 3- 5 seconds to return the ball directly to the opposition. If there's any time wasting or silly business perceived a free kick is given and a 50m penalty.

I'm fine with players purposely not stopping the ball, letting it run on when the whistle is blown but if they go out of their way to obstruct or pick up the ball to slow the game down then there should be a requirement for them to return it immediately or penalties apply (free kick within 30- 35 metres of the goals?)

I got sent off in a futsal final once for abusing the referee as he let the opposition kick the ball away and fuck about with it everytime it went out. It's fucking infuriating that something so unnecessary goes unpunished.

.. and so much other shit. I really, really struggle with the local, European and world associations not following others sports examples and enforcing discipline. I realise that they that this is a billion dollar engine but surely there has to be some limit. Every single decision, literally every one, is contested in a manner that suggest the officiator is a complete and utter knob.

Every cynical, blatant foul is treated by the offender as a personal affront and a point of violent and offensive discussion. All of which teaches us and the current youth to argue that these behaviours are acceptable and the norm.

It isn't going to get better
