We took 4 GK to that tournament. There's a fetish with GKs and we only took 3 CBs. I think we ended the game with Morton and Stephenson as CBs. I am going out on a limb and say Nallo and Lucky are better CBs than makeshift MFs acting as CB

We need more than 1 striker. Ekitike is mainly a striker but when paired with marmoush he did drift in from the left. Do we need such high value pair of strikers? Maybe not, but ultimately we needed 2 strikers. Ekitike reeks of opportunistic (similar to Diaz and gakpo signings), rather than something we needed.
He’s averaged 29 games a season over the last 8 years including 17 last year, 51 the year before and 31 the year before that.
He’ll play and contribute 100% if we keep him.
Remember when he played that cup game when we want our 4th choice to play? He came off injured after 5 minutes. Then missed the rest of the season. He can’t be relied upon.
Go see Thiago, Keita and Ox. He’s the defensive version of them. He has been unavailable for something like 185 games since we signed him. That’s not someone you can say keep around just in case because when you need him he can’t be picked.
I do. Remember when he filled in at right back for weeks on end and was outstanding? It goes both ways. He can’t be relied upon as a no1 2 or even maybe 3 but he’s absolutely good enough as a no4.
There’s no point saying he’s good enough as a 4 if he’s dead. We also won’t need him at full back. We are stacked there.

This year it leaves us (ideally) with vvd, ibou, guehi, Gomez. If we need a 5th then hopefully endo, nallo, Stephenson or another player can step in. If we're finding ourselves down to our 5th choice then that's going to be shite regardless.
Next year there's the risk of ibou going, and if that happens we can buy. This leaves us with vvd, guehi, newbie, Gomez.
There's not a team in the world that has 5th choice cb of higher quality than endo or one of the kids. It's excessive.

Isak guarantees goals and with Mo. off to AFCON for 6 weeks that could be make or break this season. I don't like spending that much money and would have preferred to bring in Guehi at his asking price and maybe Cresswell (I don't know what other good young CB is available) adn then reassess. We're not getting another DM, we have enough midfielders for Macca to cover Gravy (and Endo for cups) for any absence without weakening the team.
£40m for Guehi and £5m for a journeyman CB leaving £95 million. More than enough.

I don't know what the plan is but as we are losing Diaz then I can see Ekitike and Gakpo rotating in the 'Henry role' with Isak up front. Rio the backup for LW and Ekitike the backup CF for Isak. All three will get a lot of games and we have cover for injuries, cup games and fatigue rotation.
He’s dead as a 1&2, rest is fine imo but I understand some saying cash in.
Someone like Dunk. Last chance for him to win trophies. Dependable. Would be honoured to come here for a year or two. We don’t need someone who is top 6 quality. Mid to lower Premier League level because that’s who they will be playing against.

Thats because Slot and the coaching team chose to take 4 GKs for 1 position and 3 recognised CBs for two positions and one of those CBs is a legitimate Blue Badge holder.

If we can get dunk for 5m then fair enough. Just depends if the spreadsheet squad want a "smash glass in emergency" type player, or if they think endo, Stephenson nallo etc are capable enough. At the end of the day it's fee and wages, and there's not a world where dunk is cheaper than nallo
Dunk has a year left on his contract and is 33, really can't see him being worth more than £5m. The question is can he play the highline and get back intime?
