Yay, etc.

Liverpool today confirmed they have completed the signing of Alexander Doni from AS Roma.

The goalkeeper has put pen to paper on a contract with the Reds after agreeing personal terms and passing a medical.

Doni, who has 10 caps for his country, made 179 appearances for Roma in six seasons in Italy during which time he lifted the Coppa Italia twice as well as the Supercoppa Italiana.

The 31-year-old custodian also helped Brazil to success in the 2007 Copa America.

"I spoke to Lucas about Doni and he was very complimentary about him as a person and as a goalkeeper, so I think it's a great deal for us," added Comolli.

Sounds like the "research" Moores did before selling to the two cowboys.

In fairness, I have relatives who follow Serie A to the extent of going to some games over there and they reckon Doni's an OK signing as a stand-in.

hahaha, comollis expert scouting system does it again

Aurelio, Lucas and Doni complete the trio of our exciting samba footballers.

Any news if Jones is on his way out?

We need to stop making so many stupid signings that we can't get rid off!

I really don't see the point of this transfer. I thought Gulacsi was highly rated? Why not just have him as backup and saved ourselves a few million quid?

They spoke about sending them out on loan to get more experience - makes more sense than another season on the bench at his age.

Liked this re. Doni :

"He is suited to English football. He is big and good in the air and his distribution is quick as well. When you play for Roma for years and years, the pressure at that club in that city is tremendous, so the fact he can handle that shows he can take anything."

Need a keeper who can come in (if needed), do a good job and not feel the pressure of standing in for Pepe.

Same.
I don't really see why anyone is arsed enough to get worked up about this signing in either a positive or negative manner.

Gulasci is highly rated that's why he's going out on loan so he has a chance to excel. In a couple of years when Reina decides that he wants to go back to Spain, he'll just slot right in.

hansen didn't play today. Second half keeper was gulacsi. Who was shite

http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/16072011/58/premier-league-liverpool-hit-six-against-malaysia.html
First a low cross from the right was very badly dealt with by Peter Gulacsi who dived to cut it out but just fumbled it straight into the path of Shaari who had the simple task of slotting it into an empty goal.

did he? i know he did on wed, didn't think he came on this morning

still gulacsi with the piss weak hand that gave them the chance for the second wasn't ti?

watched highlights, fair enough it was hansen. My bad

still don't get the hype with gulacsi though

Message from a Roma fan:

Doni was great 3/4 years ago but he's absolutely terrible now. Roma played Julio Sergio with a broken leg in front of him(Well for like half a game but still).

Doni is actually abysmal, you better hope he doesn't play.

Maybe we only bought him to keep Aquaman happy. Old pals from Roma etc. 😉

My thoughts exactly...
I hope to God it's true. PLEASE!!!!!
