Opposing managers should just play a left footed fullback on the right. He wouldn't even be able to get his shot off.

I'll admit that I wanted Diaz sold because he was getting older and it was the best time to sell, but Gakpo ain't it.
If he's not cutting in and shooting he tries to float the ball to the back post where Salah often is, and you know how good Salah is in the air or with his right foot.

I saw the same tweet and ignored it. We know he scores goals, and being a winger he was always going to cut in. He needs to do more 1 touch play around the box.

Nothing really new is it? That’s been Gakpo all over for the last 3 years, sometimes it’s effective….other times it’s not. Yesterday wasn’t one of those days.

What he needs to do is give the ball to Kerkez or Robbo once in a while.

Thats upto Slot to coach. We have Isak probably getting 45 minutes on Wednesday so I imagine we will see a different type of play on Wednesday

This is what I was saying though.

We aren't trying to replace Diaz, in my mind, though we miss him. We are trying to put together something like Mane, Firmino, Salah.

Since we've been trying to do that, the best signing we made in attack is easily the one we just sold, and he wasn't quite up to it.

During that time it's Carvahlo, gakpo, Nunez, ekitike, wirtz, isak. Gakpo is much the same player as when he arrived. He isn't shit, he is good to have, but I don't see a lofty ceiling there.

This new lot have to hit. Not all of them, but at least one, and hard.

i noticed that he did start to play the ball to robbo a bit more than he did to kerkez last game, not sure if that’s about trust, seniority or the cutting inside wasn’t working.

surely we can spend a couple of hours coaching him to cut inside, lay it off to someone centrally who then reverses it over to the left fullback in the space gakpo has helped evacuate by cutting inside. or something like this at least.

we need an extra move down the left rather than 50% cutting inside for the pass 30% cutting inside for the shot and 20% pass to the overlapping fullback.

he doesn’t really have a trick or pace and attacks are breaking down with him more than you’d like but he is talented.

That's a hell of a sentence. Again, with gakpo, any other time in history he'd be a striker with his attributes.

He definitely wouldn't be the one taking the corners either!

i had a similar sentence about salah recently in that he doesn’t track back, beat a man or have pace anymore. maybe that’s linked as part of the greater problem.

when gakpo first arrived i wanted to see him tried as #10 with his frame, touch and talent for striking the ball. klopp tried that though and it wasn’t good.

As the inventor of the word quiffer (named after the concept put forward by the great Vlad's Quiff).... I am appalled at myself.
