So what are people's thoughts for this coming season regarding our goalkeeper?

Mignolet - he was clearly struggling and Klopp let him know he was out of favour with starts for Ward and Bogdan, but both weren't up to standard. He was great at shotstopping with saves that kept us in matches, but his command of his area is as bad as I've ever seen. He got a new conract, suggests he has a long term future with us..

Karius - he's young, do we think he's too young to be getting a start for us? Is he coming in as a better quality back up or do we think Klopp will go big and start with him from the outset?

I would personally like to see Mignolet benched but I can't see that happening..

Ming should be as far away from the first team.

He has had enough chances and proved he isnt good enough and too expensive for a back up.

Is there a chance we signed an extension with Ming to maintain his price should we want to sell? I would be comfortable with Karius #1 and Ward #2, sell Ming and use that bounty elsewhere.

Think Karius will start our first league match. Its been confirmed that he's not going to the Olympics.
Ward is rumoured to join Huddersfield on loan this season.

Performance in pre-season will be a factor, I assume.

But I think Karius will be number one when we kick off.

That is entirely based on my long-standing antipathy for Mignolet, as I've never seen Karius play for us yet.

I expect it'll depend - as it should - on how they do in pre-season training. A pal of mine who, unlike me, lives in Liverpool tells me the word is Karius has been looking really good. Let's hope that isn't just wishful thinking.

Wasn't Karius voted the #2 keeper in Germany by the BL players last season ? That's more than good enough to start as our #1.

If Mignolet murders Moreno - I don't care how, strangulation, poisoning, shooting, whatever - he can stay in goal and be even worse than last season. Just feck Moreno off.

Klopp seems to have two eyes and a functioning brain

So based on that Ming will be second choice

He finished the season better than expected, but If Ming starts..

We finished 8th, we are not in europe, there is no great expectation on us to actually challenge for the title, more to try and challenge for a top four spot. I think this would be the perfect time to start with the youngster over the waste of space.

Mignolet should never have been handed that contract and sold this summer window. Fingers crossed Karius is good enough because we already know his supposed 'rival' isn't.

Alex Manninger apparently training with the club. If I were Ward i'd be happy with that - its quite clearly a stop gap whilst he gets more playing time at Huddersfield and leaves Karius and Mignolet to duke it out for #1.

With lack of Europa League is doesnt leave much chance to tinker with the goalies, which is probably a good thing (and one I know @gkmacca will agree with) - so whoever starts the first game will likely keep the jersey unless they really fuck up.
