“He has a lot of quality on the ball,” added Slot. “He’s never afraid to do something special with it. Sometimes that leads to situations when, in my opinion, he touched that ball a bit too much because sometimes he’s a bit too over-confident.

“He combines this with an incredibly hard work-rate and we can trust him in defence. He’s quite complete but for him now it’s all about consistency. The best players in the world show up every three days.”

Good, they're working on the ball hogging issue.

And become a beast

I’m not sure the old Jones would have passed the ball to Mo for the goal against Brighton.

Old Jones would have tried to dribble pass the defender in front of him, which he’s well capable of beating, but then run into traffic and end up making a square pass, losing us the opportunity.

You might be right, but old Jones played in the Klopp system and rarely had a chance to make those kinds of passes

It feels good to hear Slot say what we are all thinking...

that one time when holding on to the ball too long works out and looks good
It's great when it leads to something, like it did in the above example. Most often I just go "uh-huh, great, he passed it back to Konate".

Cj is proving doubters like me, we were wrong! He has definitely improved under slot, there seems to be more to his game now.

There is nothing that Slot has done to improve, other than use him right and make use of his imcredible talent in the right way. You see Klopp had issues, one of them being scared of any midfielder that had world class skill levels.
