My grandmother in law just beat stomach cancer at 92 when she was given no chance.

Here’s hoping Keegan can pull through.

I LOVED superstars.

Me too in 1974

First game I remember was 74 final. Football match live on telly. I wasn’t allowed to stay up for MotD, so my total football world was watching the big match on Yorkshire TV or watching it a “freckly” TyneTees picture if we played a NE team and it wasn’t on YTV

For any too young to know. The Big Match was a long edit of a Saturday game shown on Sunday lunch

I loved Superstars back in the day, but one thing irked me. As far as I cam remember, participants were not allowed to compete in their own sports; but there was one guy (David Emery?) - who was a steeple chaser and, for some unknown reason, he was given a dispensation so he could participate in the chase. He had to start 100m back or something, but he always won.

Never got my head around why he was allowed that - maybe someone can enlighten me ...

David Emery wrote a posthumous biography on his fiance, an Olympian who died very young, of stomach cancer, same cancer Keegan has. Weird. So sad.
