having a medical at west ham according to SSN

bit of a random one, surely a team in the premier league would want him

It's the sign of a manager lacking imagination that he would go back and sign his own players from the past.

I always find it worrying too

Jeez, Nolan is good enough for the premiership. Why is he dropping down a division?

Not sure I agree, Ross.
He wants to get them back ASAP and wants players he knows and can trust to do the job for him. Nolan certainly can be very instrumental in their bid for promotion.

Would have thought the last one would have been enough.

Maybe Big Sam is his Dad or something because other than that this move makes no sense at all . He's Newcastle captain , he's 28 and scored 12 in 30 last season. Why the fuck would you drop a division to that shower of shite ?

Paving the way for Andy Carroll to move to Chelsea? That commute from London to Liverpool would be a killer.

Or maybe West Ham are offering free tickets to the Olympics?

@Joey7Barton Great player, leader, captain, person, trainer and mostly a friend for life. Devastated to see him SOLD! #mejoseandjonasnext

Didn't Nolan also have some kind of falling out with the Newcastle fans when Carroll was sold and he said he'd made the right choice or something?

That would suggest that it's the club forcing them out. Maybe Pardew wants to create his own team and is selling the core of a reasonably good (by Newcastle standards) team.

I will laugh my arse off, if Newcastle get relegated.

What they did to Chris Hughton was fucking out of order.

that mike ashley lad is like a throw back to old school chairmen , he makes the stupidest decisions that seem to be based on too much emotion, conflict etc and not enough business or common sense . How he ever became wealthy in the first place is beyond me , guess he has some skills somewhere.

It seems he is trying to win his title back of the most stupid fat cunt of a chairman in england, given what is happening else where with brum & villa.

He refused to sign a new contract so they sorted the situation out pretty quickly.

Fair enough really.

NEWCASTLE chiefs are sticking with their policy to reduce the wage bill and the average age of their squad.

Toon fans were stunned last week when club captain and 12-goal top scorer Kevin Nolan left for Championship side West Ham.

The midfielder turns 29 on Friday and St James' Park bosses, led by chairman Derek Llambias, will limit deals for any players approaching their 30s.

A source said: "There's no way the club would offer long deals to players who are 28 or 29.

"There was no way they would contemplate bettering the deal West Ham offered. He was on £40,000 a week and they offered £10,000 more.

"The club is on the way to being in far better health financially."

This summer the Toon have already crossed the Channel to pick up midfielders Yohan Cabaye and Sylvain Marveaux, as well as landing West Ham striker Demba Ba on a free.

And they will carry on with their policy of picking up bargains around Europe as they look to make the club self-sufficient by next summer.

That would give them a head start on their rivals with UEFA's financial fair play rules set to be implemented over a three-year period.

The initial break-even assessment will cover the financial years ending 2012 and 2013, which will be assessed during 2013-14.
