Aaron King signs for Liverpool
Posted on: Mon 22 Jun 2009

Rushden & Diamonds Under 16 player Aaron King has completed a move to Liverpool FC for an undisclosed fee.

Aaron joined Rushden & Diamonds Youth Development at the age of 11, moving into the Centre of Excellence in his Under 13 year, where he has continued through to Under 16 level. After a successful trial with the Reds, Aaron begins his two-year scholarship with Liverpool on 6th July, becoming the third player in the last two seasons to move from Rushden & Diamonds Youth System to a Premiership club.

Head of Youth Paul Driver commented "We are all absolutely thrilled for Aaron - this is a brilliant achievement for everyone involved in his development throughout the five years that he has been with us.

His progress with us to get to the level where one of the 'Big 4 Clubs' is prepared to offer him a scholarship also serves as further evidence of how well we have maintained our system despite the withdrawal of financial support from the football authorities in the past two seasons".

We would like to wish Aaron the best of luck at Liverpool.

They also say Rushden & Diamonds will be playing a 'Rushden & Diamonds Legends' XI for pre-season. The mind boggles as to who these 'legends' could be.

Is he real, or just one of those cut-out figures you can have your picture taken next to? He looks as though Alan Shearer has mated with a piece of cardboard.

Haha.

They might be a few Championship players who were there on loan as youngsters or something

That's the last we'll hear of him then!

first and the last.

He's way too young for Leer.

That reminds me [puts on Denis Norden specs and holds clipboard] of one of my favourite marital faux pas: The actor Sir Donald Wolfit went round the country boring audiences with his creaky old Shakesperean productions during the 1950s. At the end of one performance he came out and said, 'Thank you, kind people. Now, when we return next week, I shall appear as King Lear, while my wife will be my Cordelia...' And someone from the stalls shouted out, 'SHE'S FUCKING SHIT!!' And Wolfit glared at the bloke and said, 'NEVERTHELESS...she will be my Cordelia...'

Ok, as you were... :-X
