We’ve agreed with (compensated) Nike to allow us to wear New Balance until the season has been completed. I’m guessing there is huge bonuses with NB for lifting the title in their gear.

This means our £30 million a year basic deal with Nike will start once the season finishes.

Meanwhile the poor Ev have signed a £9 million a season deal with Hummel. Could you get any more sports direct?

£9M a season (£170K a week) for a 32 year old German defender in the current climate .... I think they've been ripped off

That deal with Nike looks less of a deal in light of current events, hard not to see merchandise & shirt sales dropping a fair bit globally for a myriad of reasons.

Yea, expect tv audiences to drop significantly for matches without fans in the stadium. Which will impact shirt sales.

Wouldn't be surprised to see sponsorship deals renegotiated as well as tv deals.

Just have to hope the online sales go up more than usual.
It's not just the lack of footfall in shops, it decreased spending ability, possibly reduced interest in next season when it kicks off without fans, & arguably most important, less chance to wear the shirt to pubs etc to watch the game, which I'm sure is a massive reason for overseas fans.

No matter how you slice it, it looks a bigger gamble than it did before this.

I said then that we should have taken a deal with a bigger cash component, and fuck off the merchandising share....I was ripped apart here for not underestimating the power of our brand...

Well looks like I was right suckas!! *cough..coughs into my pangolin stew*

Really ? I expect TV figures to soar.

Sure when it first restarts, but I was thinking of next season and however many more seasons without full stadiums.
Next season I think the mass appeal will hugely reduced. This season there's still a lot of the appeal cos there's a fair bit to play for, a lot of games with shit riding on it.

If it looks like there'll be a full season without fans I think they need to dramatically change the league format. I heard an idea to play the first half out, exact number of games for all, then split the league in two for the second half, & they play those twice.

It would mean a lot of games with a lot to play for at least.

Whilst I don't think it's necessarily the answer, I think at least the idea to make the league modular would be good, we know there is a chance it will be curtailed again, & obviously if they can have a set plan in place that everyone is aware of going into it things will go much more smoothly & with less politicking.
