Kuyt: 27 games started, 10 goals, 52 shots, 25 shots on goal, 5 assists and 25 fouls suffered.
Bale: 26 games started, 7 goals, 54 shots, 23 shots on goal, 1 assist and 50 fouls suffered

He's such a lad; it's difficult to not be a fan of Dirk.

Yeah, he'll have 5 games on the trot where he goes missing but you know that in the subsequent 10 he'll be an absolute monster and bag a few goals to boot.

He's also badass at taking peno's.

Goes missing? He may play poorly, but he'll never ever go missing.
[/quote]

Erm,yeah goes missing isn't probably the right way to describe what happens to Kuyt.

Becomes ineffective ?

Yeah, that's fair, though perhaps I'd add "in the opposition half" since, even on days when going forward he has the touch of a charging rhino, he'll still drop back and do his share of chasing and harrying.

he morphs into a useless labrador running around chasing the ball, then switches back to regular kuyt beast after we all have written him off.

The Bale award was just silly, and based on potential ...

Anyway, yea Dirk has his down-cycles, but never goes missing!

Isn't it great to have such positive momentum in the club again...

All thanks to one man's clever stewardship. It feels like he's just himself. No games, just himself.

Absolutely. The man has everything we need in a manager, now and for some time to come. He's just letting the force be with him.

That all said, I'll take Bale thanks.

Bale is a one trick pony... I'd rather have Lennon.

I'm posting this again because it took 8 minutes and thus needs a bigger audience.

LTW - You feeling alright ?

🙂 I really thought that would be one of first few responses on the bloody thread!

I've been fair on Dirk forever now -

I would have been here sooner, but I've only just recovered from a fried chicken-induced coma.

*considers making "Isn't John Terry Ace" ? thread*

Haven't Modo and Neil been in yet to bemoan his lack of pace and to tell everyone they want a fast, 30 goals/20 assists a season winger instead?

He sure did.

Credit where it's due. Looks like he'll finish the season in an outstanding way.
You know my agenda, no need to harp about it.

Nice to see people appreciating Dirk some more these days. He's a nice chap and a very intelligent player, I'm glad we have him. Cruyff and Van Maarwik only had nice things to say about him at the world cup last year.

Gareth Bale, player of the year? Yeah, right.

I'm sorry about that. My mobile operator's giving me quite a bit of grief today.

I'll let it go this time.

Liverpool fans celebrated the fact that Dirk Kuyt couldn’t stop scoring at the end of the season.

Now his wife Gertrude has revealed that the couple are expecting their fourth child. Asked last week whether she was pregnant Gertrude said: “Yes, it’s true. Our next baby is due in August.”

The Kuyts already have three children – Noelle, Roan and Jordan.

Kuyt scored six goals in Liverpool’s last nine games and prospered in the Kenny Dalglish-inspired revival. He finished the campaign on 19 goals.

The Anfield hero was back in his native Holland last week raising money for the Dirk Kuyt Foundation, the charity he set up to help handicapped youngsters.

He raised £166,000 at the auction. Among the prizes Kuyt donated was a private jet flight for ten people to visit Liverpool’s first home game of the new season as well as the gift of a Sky box.
