Liverpool are set to let Adam Lallana leave in the summer when the England midfielder's contract runs out.

There are no talks taking place between the European champions and the 31-year-old over a new deal and he will be available on a free transfer.

Lallana, who has been linked with Leicester City, moved to Anfield for £25m in 2014.

He was signed from Southampton by then-Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers, who is now in charge of the Foxes.

Lallana has played 13 times for Liverpool in the league this season, scoring once.

His only goal this season was against Manchester United, when his equaliser maintained the club's unbeaten record.

Lallana's time at Anfield has been hampered by injuries in the past two seasons but he was a key part of Jurgen Klopp's side in the early days of the German manager's reign.

He helped the Reds win the Champions League last season and has scored 18 times in 126 league games for the club.

Fair play. He was never amazing, but he played his part in the club's rapid and remarkable improvement over the last few years and deserves respect (from everyone but Modo)

Respect above the level of nearly getting his first name right you mean?

Deserves respect my arse. As human, sure but as footballer for LFC? Fuck no.
I've seen better and more prominent former LFC players get scorn from you lot.
As for mentioning me, fuck off. I'm glad to be rid of him.

You may think it’s the right decision to let him go, and I would agree. But glad to be rid of him? Really? He hasn’t done us harm!

When he leaves at the end of this season he will have been at Liverpool for 6 years. Even before this season he was part of a squad that finished fourth twice, second once, won the Champions League and came runners up once. That’s not a bad return at all, and that alone I think warrants some respect.

IF we do end up winning the league this season then I would say without exception that every single member of the squad is a fucking hero and deserving of respect.

I'm trying to think of another fringe player we've had that he's been about as effective as? Borini? Le Tallec? Joe Cole? Downing? Aspas? Moses? Pennant? Sahin?

I'm glad he's leaving because that will hopefully be the end of the "next season" and "what if" Lallana discussions.

But I doubt it. In a few years people will be talking about how his goal against Man U won us the league and how incredible his time at LFC was.
I actually read in another thread that Reina apparently wasnt a good keeper! Jesus fucking Christ.

I haven’t personally witnessed anyone bigging up Lallana like that but even if they do, why does it bother you so much?

I’m not having a go at you, honestly, but I don’t get why you seem to dislike him so much. Sure, he’s far from our best player but he’s a squad player and does a job when required. I do think it is right to let him go but I also don’t think he has ever been so poor that he departure is worth celebrating. We have had success while he was part of the squad. It isn’t as if he has held us back is it?

Apart from a purple patch in 2016-2017 he had very little to do with any of that. Modo's vitriol is ridiculous levels, but overall mostly due to injuries Lallana's Liverpool career has been a bust. It's a pity as it's clear Klopp rates him, but like Sturridge (but to a lesser degree) the injuries really took their toll.

I’m not disputing that, but my point is that although I think pretty much everyone would agree that he may as well move on, there’s no need to celebrate him leaving. He hasn’t hindered us and although it would have been nicer if he had played a larger part, he would have played some part at least.

I really don't dislike him as much now as I did when we were shit a few years ago. But my disdain mainly comes from the fact that we could have had a better more contributing player in our squad instead of him. But I'm not gonna lie, it's also the constant "next season he'll back stronger" threads.

Modo's an obsessive, and at times (e.g.now) it reaches ludicrous quasi-autistic levels. He took against Lallana from the start, partly because he - like many of us - thought we'd overpaid but mainly because he was flogging one of his hobbyhorses to death, said hobbyhorse being that the English media and English fans routinely overrate English players. Once he gets one of these bees in his bonnet, he likes to hug it close like some sort of perverted comfort blanket and drag it out for an airing again, and again, and again, and again. He's stunk out innumerable threads this way and should never have been allowed back on here after his ban.

You know how Kewell was booed in the CL final when he got injured?
Although that was wrong, that's pretty much how Lallana has hindered us. By ultimately not being there. He was bought for 25 mill. Marquee money back then. He didn't show.

I am baffled about all these hatred feelings toward players that end up to be fringe players that hardly make the bench when the full squad is fit. Moreno is another example over excessive feeling towards a guy that couldn't get a game his last 2 seasons. Totally insignificance player for us but still whirl up tons of shit cause he played 2 years ago.

And I don’t buy into them taking someone elses place either. Footie is an industry where probably more transfers are miss than hit. We can't blame a player for the poor work done by the team recruiting him. That is fucking retard. You can hold against him poor behaviour and not putting in what you are fit values for wearing the shirt, but there is absolutely no fucking proof that the "corrupt" bastard willing to pay for him in the first place would have invested that money better for the club if he picked someone else. And watching a few hours of YouTube clips every day doesn't make you smerter than that bastard in the first place how ever hard you argue on an internetforum that player y, x og z would be a better fit for the club based on any semiintellectual analysis you choose to out out there. It just make you look stupid.

And for the same of good order, even if I say "you" this post is not directed at you. It is just a general observation from my side. I have seen both good and bad sides of Lallana. Will not cry when he leaves but wish him all well and hope he styrings together 3-4 good seasons. Whoever gets him will be assure they get a teamplayer with good attitude, lots of experience and a rolemodel for their up and coming stars to learn from.

What? The last one was related to a Klopp statement, and all the others are full of people complaining he doesn't score enough, won't stay fit, and isn't a first team starter anymore.

And given that's four (well, three) threads over the last four years, and most of them are anything but overwhelmingly positive, I'd suggest you shut the fuck up before you embarrass yourself even more. Again.

You said there are no threads. I posted some. Go play judge jury and opinion police with someone else. Couldn't give flying fuck about proving shit to you...
