Am I missing something here? He could borrow money off the Queen of fucking Sheeba for all it matters but if the Board feels it would be to the detriment of the club then they can tell him to do one.
I think this will end up in some kind of legal battle over the club and (ultimately) money, who pays what and how much.

I don't believe G&H are that thick that they pushed refused bid after bid after bid in the hope of making millions on the club knowing they would be unlikely to re-finance come October, its a very very risky game to play and knowing they have sold their other sports franchises I think if they had a decent bid they would have sold. They obviously won't let the club go and like Vlad mentions they will do what they can to keep hold of the club, in the end though they might have a move to make.

The board do have the power to block stupidity from G&H, and it isn't a case of simply sacking them as some people have suggested. If we have learnt anything over the past few years of speculation re takeover then its that the absolutely majority of what is printed is B.S (I suppose we should really know all this anyway).

We just need to chill out, come Oct 6th things will be a little clearer I don't think anything will be resolved then as things will probably get worse but we will have a better understanding from official sources not listening to BS from the papers or some random posting S**T on a football forum.

Yeah, I think this is going to court too.
If it is a court in Malaysia, it might just drag on for years with interest mounting and legal fees enriching the lawyers. Might be a pretty quick court judgement in the UK if legal suits are filed.

Re: Merged Topics: Club Refinance Thread

I'm pretty sure it would be better and faster than Malaysia, but I doubt a quick fix is going to happen in court.

There'll be some negotiations which may give HIcks some time.

Re: Merged Topics: Club Refinance Thread

Let Hicks have his day in court. He is like a cornered rat or a deer caught in the headlight of a speeding car!

I'm amazed Bamba has the audacity to keep posting after the Huang shenanigans.

He's hilarious.

The same could also be said for Tony Barrett and the other Tony at The Times.

True, I now hold Barrett now in a similar light. His research was appalling, and he paid the price in embarrassment.

Agree with quite a lot of the above, but would take issue with two things:

(a) I don't think G and H have held out because they're thick - I think they did it knowing that the risk was great, because the potential rewards were even greater; and

(b) Based on that, their definition of "decent bid" was never going to be the same as most other people's, so I doubt they'd ever have sold for the kind of sum you or I would call decent.

BTW, whether legal action is likely or not, I'm hopeful that their case is pretty ropey. Should the court agree, any such action could be over sooner than we fear. The courts will give everyone a fair hearing but they do not like having their time wasted.

Re: Merged Topics: Club Refinance Thread

Second point, you do have a point on that one. I still think any bid close to their value they would have sold for, I don't believe a genuine bid came in for the club and a number of the bids talked about were just hot air, Huang and the Syrian being two of the main ones.

It's a waiting game, and waiting to see what G&H have planned, as each day passes they will be more and more desperate. I would love to see them fail, I'm very cautious about the next buyer though, cos they could easily come in buy the club on the cheap from RBS spend a little bit and sell on for huge profit, but I suppose we can worry about that when it happens.

The whole cloak and daggers tone is fantastic.

Bamba is probably one of those people who is shagging a bored thick housewife after convincing her he is a spy on covert missions.

"I'll tell all when the danger has passed". I fucking love his cojones in saying that he hasn't posted in so long because he suspected Hicks and Gillet were using his (fucking cryptic non-specific ramblings) in order to plan their counterattacks. Absolutely brilliant stuff. Better still, he can now claim that the mystery 'rocket' that he assured us was coming to take Gillet out had been deployed- though it was initially the case that this missile was meant to be coming from Huang's gang, but sure we'll forget about that. I love him and the mysterious story he is bringing to the RAWKites.

He promised a rocket yonks back as Huang was bidding.

Re: Merged Topics: Club Refinance Thread

Bamba's first reference to the Rocket: Where we're at right now is Huang's group is doing everything above board. If I had to guess how it'll play, I'd say they'll come to an agreement with G&H - much as it'd gall us all to see either of them walk away with a profit -simply to get this done, draw a line and move on. That's just an educated guess though. What I do know is that if it has to get dirty, the Huang side has a rocket up their sleeve that will jettison George for good. If he knows good for him, he'll face the music, get this done and do one. Amen.

Subsequently he does refer to the fact he has it on good authority that Gillett is going bust, and this is the rocket.

Re: Merged Topics: Club Refinance Thread

So Blackstone fucked Hicks off a while ago, the papers report a doomsday scenario the day before a massive game stating Blackstone ARE going to finance Hicks and then a day after said game backtrack. And some people hang on every word these jokers print.

Yes, it's interesting how such sensational news only happens on Sundays and not Tuesdays or Thursdays.

Re: Merged Topics: Club Refinance Thread

Most of the regular posters on this forum are decent and humane people who take little pleasure in the suffering of others. Knowing that George Gillett has retreated to his mountain hideaway, shell-shocked, punch-drunk and waving the white flag will no doubt distress the many who have come to view this jovial old devil as one of our own.

WTF does that pile of shite mean?

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/sep/20/liverpool-protest-owners?CMP=twt_gu

The Liverpool supporters' group Spirit of Shankly has called for two days of protest against the current owners of the club, Tom Hicks and George Gillett, and the financial institutions who have lent them money in the past.

The supporters' union will hold an emergency general meeting on Saturday morning before the home game against Sunderland at Anfield, followed by a protest at the match. "We would like as many supporters as possible, to make their feelings known towards the owners during the Sunderland match, using banners, flags and songs," said a statement from the association.

"We ask everyone in the ground to make their voices heard – let everyone know you will no longer tolerate the current owners. Following the match, irrespective of the result, we intend to hold a sit in protest. Regardless of where you sit, remain in the ground and make your views heard. Gather at the front of the stand you are in, with flags and banners, and make your voices heard."

The protests will resume eight days later for the home match against Blackpool. "To build on the momentum of this protest and to increase pressure on the owners, we are also proposing a day of action at the match against Blackpool," Spirit of Shankly said.

"We will start this day with a mass march to visibly show our anger towards the owners and those responsible for our current situation. It will also be an opportunity to show support for what we want to achieve – genuine supporter involvement in how Liverpool Football Club is run. Following on from the march we want fans to take the atmosphere generated into the ground and make sure the whole world knows how we feel."

Spirit of Shankly said its current plans were just the start and it would continue their campaign against the club's American owners until Liverpool had been sold.
