We havnt been sold yet though have we?
No, but it looks like the Greedy Bastard has fallen into his own trap.

Last round of refinancing from RBS seemed to happen only if the bank itself had the control of the upcomming sale process. Hicks and Gillett seemed to believe they should net a huge profit, and agreed to terms basicly ripping their boardroomcontrol apart.

Then there were no buyers to the price they touted (surprice surprice), and they tried to refinance with the club as security. Or not just the club, but the stadium, the players, the income in the future and whatever. They found lenders, but the board blocked them down. If they had the control back then they would have sacked the board allready then. But they fell into their own trap, and the convicing that they would net the profit cost them. They will shout about legal interpretion et al, but I feel confident that the chairman of BA knows a thing or two about business and legal aspects as well. I hope Broughton has guided this home now.

I am not comfortable with new American business concortium basing their profit on screwing poor (but greedy, you have to be greedy to invest in Hedgefunds) americans. But right now it will cause some needed optimism around Anfield! And we desperately need just that.
I hope you are right. But I wont be celebrating for a while yet. I can help feeling that these statements are nothing more than Broughton, Purslow and Ayres laying their cards on the table and more or less saying "there you are we've done our job and dont blame us if the deal doesnt go through".

I hope Im wrong

Haha...Brendung forced to remove egg from his face.

How will he worm his way out of this one?

I'm not that overly thrilled with the new owners, they don't seem to have the financial muscle that we desperately need.

That way I can show I'm happy now, but burn it if they're shit owners too

So to sum up-
The Yanks have secured refinancing but Purslow, Broughton and Ayres have blocked them using the club as equity.

Broughton, Purslow and Ayres have secured two substantial bids for the club but are being blocked by the yanks as they will only break even and not make profit.

The yanks are trying to remove purslow and ayres from the board but Broughton has stopped them forcing legal action to try and force them out.

RBS are still fucking dithering.

Nothing has fucking changed.

We're still shite.
Yeh apart from the recent RBS 'statement' on Radio 4 saying they'll put us into administration next Friday if the club isn't sold. Hicks isn't going to get refinance unless it's secured against club assets - which the board won't allow. And Hicks and Gillet cant remove Ayres and Purslow while they owe RBS money. I'm hoping theyr'e essentially fucked.
Could the convenient timing of the RBS statement be something else engineered neatly to move this deal along, to try to push Hicks & Co into this move?

Re: Club Refinance Thread

You are being extremely narrow minded Brendan. Each to his own I guess. If this goes through, I think it's a very big step in the right direction.

They have a reputation for putting their money were their mouths are, and the Red Sox spend 2nd or 3rd most money each year. They want to win and have a very good reputation. Hicks did not.

Re: Club Refinance Thread

Hold on a minute Brendan you don't know what these fellas are do you.... Nor what their plans are. And from Broughtons statement about clearing the club of debt that sounds pretty damn encouraging. But then so did GnH many many moons ago.

Im just glad if we can get rid of the nasty stink and negative mood around the club, tbh after so much time slowing watching us die under the weight of their heavy and much appreciated investment.

....270 million dollars MY ARSE... the difference between accountancy and reality is stunning. Cunts.

It might be a train coming down the tunnel towards us mind you, but right now i will happily take "might be" as opposed to being certain that the light is the oncoming Hicks express to Shitville.

Re: Club Refinance Thread

As I stated 10 pages back, the dynamics of the operation don't seem to have changed that much and if this is a leveraged buy out, we're going to see absolutely no change to our existing (skint) predicament.

We needed a tycoon and it seems we got a corner shop owner.

The Red Sox are one the proudest brands in American Sports isn't it?

Just like we are when it comes to European sports. They'll take us back to the very top as well that's part of the deal.

I'm really pleased by this mornings news. Really really pleased to be honest. Don't know much about the exact details nor whom our new owners are it just seems right.

Perhaps I'm clutching at straws but these early indications are mostly very positive. Especially the part where Hicks and Gillett are beeing removed.

Re: Club Refinance Thread

Brendan has placed himself firmly in the 'Purslow is a know nothing snake' camp a long time ago and seems like he is staying there. I think some posters are calling Purslow a 'Hero' for blocking Hicks' move to refinance using the club as collateral.

Brendan why must you take the stance of doom and gloom again? If it goes tits up in two years time you we're right all along? Yes it might be a case of out of the frying pan into the fire but we need to get out of the frying pan asap. I would like to remain positive as we get rid of the current owner however I am still slight sceptical over the new owners. Who isn't?

Order will soon be restored (ie CL football) so they will also have another 'success story' for their portfolio when they point out they took us from being in a "relegation battle" Budgie (2010) to the top tier of European football.

We are well aware that it might be out of the frying pan into the fire but what other option have we at this present time ? Go into Administration and be sold to the highest bidder? Hicks refinanced? Wait 9 more days and hope for an arab (who isn't coming) with deep pockets to make us his play thing?
This probably is the best option at the moment. Hicks wanted to refinance using the club, melwood etc as collateral. The board stopped it and are now in the final stages of selling the club.

Of course let's be sceptical, but let's be a bit positive also. We get rid of the owners and remove our debt, Roy will be gone by season end and hopefully we move forward.

Re: LFC Sold to NESV (New England Sports Ventures)

Am looking forward to seeing the opening Press Release by NESV.

There better be a fat cheque ready for January transfers.

Re: Club Refinance Thread

I feel anxious about the whole thing.

I don't know anything about the Red Sox, but the whole idea of being brought by another American Sporting Franchise just makes me feel apprehensive. I'd rather we were being brought by someone with huge wealth who was gonna spend it recklessly, God knows our squad needs it.

The only thing worse than keeping these guys here is flogging the club off to anyone, I'm not saying that this is what's happening, just that none of us can say with certainty that it isn't.

This is far from over, even if the sale is made, we have a logn and patient slog of seeing what these guys have planned for us.

Once bitten, twice shy.

Yup, it was always obvious to anyone with the faintest clue what was going on that these three would play a significant role in moving the club forward, and for that alone they have deserved more respect than they have received in many quarters.

Of course they have, but they'll know - not least after their experience in turning the Red Sox around - that the best way to do that is to make sure we're successful.

Re: LFC Sold to NESV (New England Sports Ventures)

Look we can't be any worse off really, if we just get the debt off the club then the £40+ Million a year profit and normal operational costs will allow for new players and wages, it's how a good club should run anyway.
