January 2017 is Klopp's winter of discontent writ large. The worst sequence of results and performances from a Liverpool side in living memory. A desolate array of defensive calamity, midfield anonymity and flaccid attacking.

But let's not use this thread as an opportunity for bickering, or volleys back and forth of 'I told you so' vs 'Wrong as usual'. There is no value in that, and there's no shift in the status quo, or satisfaction in being correct when stating the fucking obvious.

This is a huge test for Klopp's management skills and also FSG's genuine desire to be successful on the pitch, rather than off it. There's also little benefit in stewing over what he needs to do, or hasn't done, or whatever. He knows he has made mistakes, it is what he does now that counts

We are in a dismal state. Battered by every team, conceding goals in every game, no ability to control games, and a flat, slow, and laughably predictable game, with a paucity of genuine attacking threat.

What a state we're in

Klarius (4) A flapping spastic as usual when the ball is in the air, he was embarrassed for the first goal, even with the attendant cretins in the defence, but made a couple of good saves after. Clearly not good enough, though.

Randall (3) What's the fucking point? He's shit, and should be nowhere near the team ever. Cheers, but fuck off. Why is Klopp even playing him? He is objectively shite

Gomez (4) Yeah, let's build the defence around him for 10 years! Hurray he's signed a new contact, despite proving nothing at all ever. He was all over the fucking place today, and looked vulnerable to pace, strength, crosses, in fact almost everything.

Klavan (5) Average, which is a massive improvement on his usual level. Another fucking mediocrity

Moreno (5) Was actually one of the few genuine threats in attack, despite not knowing how to cross, or indeed tackle. I think it's because he can actually run fast now and again, in comparison to the rest of the lead-footed twats in the team

Lucas (3) Cunt

Wijnaldum (4) Floated about and did fuck all of any interest or impact. Gutless and insipid. Booooo

Ejaria (5) Better than the useless spectre in midfield, but - like Randall - is so clearly never going to be a genuinely top quality footballer, it seems almost cruel to keep playing him

Woodburn (6) One of the few players who rose above average. Even if it wasn't anything that remarkable. Not seen anything to suggest he might replicate the impact of Owen, but that's probably because he definitely won't. Still, he was better than most.

Origi (5) I always give players an extra point for a goal. They are so important. So all credit to him for that, although he still remains one of the worst strikers in the entire league. Bless

Firmino (5) Oh how he runs. Slowly. Without any genuine attacking threat. Another fucking 'whatever' display of...I dunno, what? God he's ordinary

Klopp (3) fuck off

I have no idea why you would bother typing all that stuff. Ours was simply a makeshift team, left to sink or swim by an indifferent management team, which went on to get beaten by a better motivated and organised opposition in a competition we no longer deem important enough to play a proper team.

I see no reason to castigate individuals. It would be more honest to withdraw from the competition.

Karius 5 - could have come out for the first goal, 2nd he just sold himself.

Randall 3 - One of the worst players to have played for us...genuinely have no idea why he's still around.
Gomez 4 - thinks he's better than he is...keep it simple.
Klavan 5 - What happened to the old Klavan? gone into complete shit mode.
Moreno 4 - some things will never change, he will always be a brain fart and Klopp will always select him for set plays

Lucas 3 - slow as a dead sloth...we've had 4 or 5 chances to get rid of him before but we seem desperate to keep him, why?
Wijnaldum 4 - I thought he was an average player when we signed him.....now i think he's terrible
Ejaria 6 - did alright.

Woodburn 6 - did alright
Firmino 4 - not his fault Klopp put him on the left...again, klopp knows this doesn't work but does it anyway
Origi 5 - +1 for the goal...could have made it 2

Klopp 1 - same old stubborn approach, plays Firmino on the left...starts Randall, plays this shit 433 formation....puts moreno on set plays for goodness sakes.

Fuck Ratings - thoughts:
  • Our season entered it's most difficult state when we lost Coutinho. Losing Coutinho - and having no real substitute - forced Klopp to playing Firmino on the wing, which negated our best striker's ability to influence games. Today - you're playing him on the flank AGAIN!?!? I mean, that is really really poor on Klopp's part. Just put out 10 players - it's a waste.
  • Moreno SHOULD NOT BE ON set pieces. He's utter fucking wank. Why?
  • The above is why I'm starting to worry about Klopp ... nothing crazy, not #Kloppout - not even close, but without a result on Tuesday, the team will be shot of confidence and struggle to finish 4th ... It's really frustrating that we didn't buy enough players so we can deal with injuries and the fucking idiotic HAVE THE CUPS IN THE SUMMER YOU CUNTS AFCON.
  • I now understand the criticism of Gini ... Where has he been the last month when we needed him most? Nowhere ... When our team is doing well, he'll be one of our most consistent and important players. When it's not? Well ... he'll be coasting ... and that's just not good enough.
  • If we have two players of Coutinho/Mane like talent (i.e. 4 talented players who can score/create) around Firmino, and solidify our defensive capabilities in the summer, we'll win the league next year.

So let me get in my round of vilification, and nobody argue with me, because on their worst days Liverpool show that I was right, which is what chiefly matters to me..... Same record as always, played louder today because that's what you do.

Oh BOO HOO HOO HOO!

What a depressingly predictable response

What do YOU think? Share your fucking opinion.

I'm surprised there hasn't been more members posting their own ratings, or at least outlining thoughts and opinions

Maybe everyone agrees with me and is comfortable with a silent accord.

I'm guessing you've never been to Aberdeen. Let alone on a friday night.

I've never been to Aberdeen either, but I'd assume that it's probably quite busy on a Friday night given it's a large city.

It's almost as if binomial is a fucking clueless retard

Alright Alright, as dead as London city on Friday night.

I hear today that Southampton were thrashed by 5 goals against Arsenal today which makes me feel even worse. But there is a train of though running it seems about the need for a pacey winger which I have been going on about for ages. The truth is that I agree with many on here who believe that no matter who we played today - if they played that slowly against bus defenses by passing the ball in front then the result would have been the same. The only way to get past these types of defenses is:-

Trickery and pace OR you have one big clinical mother fucker up front who can capitalize on decent crosses.

We had neither and as a result we were finished and the result will be the same again unless our movement significantly changes. It is really hard to stomach the fact that we have lost 3 games in a row at home. Seriously ? - after not losing for so long at home three buses come along at the same time to run us over. We have another bus coming on Tuesday but with a more deadly engine - I really hope we are able to deal with that when it arrives.

I do wonder about what some have said on here about deliberately not caring that much about today's game. I wonder if Klopp thinks that he cannot actually manage two campaigns with the squad he has and made the decision to just concentrate on the league to secure a top 3 place. I mean he never gave Ojo a chance which I find strange - a winger available for selection but decided not to pick him even as a sub. Really strange that.

Bit disappointed that we haven't seen more from Klopp this month. His team selections have been off and he's started to display an inability or unwillingness to react to situations when Plan A isn't working. Hope I'm wrong but he's been a bit fur coat no knickers of late. I think paying lip service to the cups is wrong given the team's current standing, they are basically our only chance of silverware. Now they're gone. Yeah, we'll continue to fight for top 4 but that's limited excitement for me to be honest.
Regards the team, there are still too many players who shouldn't be near our first 11, whatever the circumstances. Karius, Randall, Klavan, Moreno, Ejaria, Lucas, Can even Origi are average players in their own right; collectively, they're a nightmare.
Mane has been away and Coutinho is playing himself back in so hopefully we can pick it back up. But I don't think Klopp has covered himself in glory of late.

Why are you gagging for more response to this cunt thread on a cunt day?

We lost and the lost thing some people would like to do is dwell on it and moan about it for a few more days on the Internet.

Maybe they come in, see what you wrote .. just another tome of 'am I right or am I right' ? And think 'fuck that', not another round of bickering over the same issues that remain unproven for now.

Just for the heck of it then I'm back off to building my website which is a lot more fun / interesting :

Karius - 6 - let down by defenders not defending.
Randall - 3 - simply not good enough at even this level and is a slow, defensive, FB. Should never have been picked for this game.
Gomez - 5 - he's still very young and has just come back from what 12-18 months out ? Fuck off if you think you can determine how good he's going to be from the few minutes he's had since returning.
Klavan - 4 - he struggles against pace and should never have been selected for this game.
Moreno 3 - please go away and never come back.
Lucas - 2 - dear fucking Christ. Why are you still here ?
Wijnaldum - 4 - really poor game from him. Shocking because he's so much better than that.
Ejaria - 6 - I think this kid has something, an improvement on Can even now.
Firmino - 4 - zero support from midfield. Why oh why play him wide left when we all know that is his worst, least effective, position.
Origi - 5 - zero support from midfield. Often dropped deep to even see some of the ball (where he did OK TBH). A goal.
Woodburn - 6 - zero support from midfield. Better in the second half but he's 17 years old FFS. He's an out and out striker and he's being played as a makeshift winger / wingback ? When we also have Ojo (who played well when brought on the other day) and Wilson (very tricky and scores a lot of goals, 19 this season for the U23's), both speed merchants with skill, even if both very young, so really Klopp ... WTF ?

Coutinho - 6 - couldn't do it alone, though he tried to.
Can - 4 - who ? I didn't even notice him, zero affect on the team. he's gone backwards this season.
Sturridge - 4 - he's done isn't he. Skill is still there but pace and willingness to put in the effort aren't there any longer.

Klopp - 0 - Wrong team (though I agree with saving some players for Chelsea, they've already had a very hard month and a few are just back from injury too), wrong substitutions, wrong tactics.

Klopp's been rather terse in his post-match comments, saying he is '100% to blame' although what he really seems to imply is that he thought some players were good enough, and they weren't.

'I thought were ready but obviously we were not'

And then bemoans the defending - not before time Kloppy - and that we didn't create enough. And finally a promise to 'change things'

Now you can read an awful lot into such statements - does he mean buying players? Dropping them? - but it's at least vaguely promising that he's had enough with some of our squad.

Fingers crossed anyway.

Quite. We can't really blame this stuff on makeshift teams when the manager got the fundamentals so wrong. Firmino hasn't worked well on the wing, period. He continues to play him there when Origi or Sturridge play, stifling his contribution, when he knows it just doesn't function well. Yet he continues to shoehorn him into the side in a position where we and he knows he has zero impact.

He plays Lucas who continues to be slow and a liability. A player who has constantly been the brunt of fan and critical opinion.

Wijnaldum is highlighting the initial concerns many of us had, he's too much of a passenger to be worth the money we paid for him. Wolves fans yesterday that I spoke to all commented on this lad, they all said he was terrible and they couldn't believe how much we had forked out for him.

That's three of main problems right there, that's not a few kids who saw us lose, that's seasoned professionals along with Moreno and Klavan who were frankly, utter shite and a disgrace to this club. None of them have anything about them to take control of games and show their experience and assurance.

People want to have a pop at the kids, that none of them are leaders or winners. Well have a look at the professionals they are learning from. It seems to be something rotten at the club that stinks to the core, and this isn't the remnants of Rodgers or Dalglish's reign, this is Klopp with his players and the players he sees as having a future with us - that's on the manager. If players like Lucas and Moreno don't have a future here, they shouldn't be near the first team in any competition, because they are stunting our progress and blocking progression of others.

Klopp has got it horribly wrong in the last 2 months, so much so that I'm concerned that the club will think the answer is to get the cheque book out, when the real issue is that we have a manager who's in-game analysis and ability to identify and learn from obvious issues, is slow and bordering on moronic.

Mark, you seem to be leading the Vanguard of the currently tiny Klopp Out army, but while much of what you say has validity, there's quite a bit that is a bit premature to say the least.

Klopp is only into his first full season, and that still isn't over. It's only fair to give him time to build the squad he wants and also the fitness and mentality he requires.

Secondly, and most importantly, while you might argue about how Dlaglish and Rodgers were dispensed with, it is also reasonable to point out that Jurgen Klopp is still one of the best and most highly-regarded managers in the world, and his two league titles in Germany should still afford him some belief and backing, because it's a far better CV than any other recent manager (Kenny post 1990) we've had, and better than most around.

There's a ton of things he's fucked up, or got wrong, but there's also a lot he's improved and it's fair to say that you and a few of us on here who voiced those concerns months ago were shouted down because everything was great and nothing would go wrong, should now try and be equally objective and fair about the positives

It's a horrible situation at the moment, but he knows it has to improve and thats what he gets paid for

I don't think he should be out mate, I just think he's fucking up royally and that has to be a concern, especially when it's basic stuff that the average Joe can see. He needs time and money, I get that, but he needs to start getting things right too.

He's got a lot of things right, Mark. Sure, we're going through a tough patch but that's not to say we haven't made progress under Klopp, because we clearly have. It won't all be linear, though.
