Why did we do this? Let me remind you that Sterling and Hendo were on the pitch.

But the first two players I mentioned in most post, Suarez and Sturridge, weren't, we can live without Coutinho every now and again when we have those two playing. Players should start based upon form, Coutinho has been good, but Sterling has been better, simple.

Not necessarily. Coutinho has to be playing better though and centrally rather than wide left.

He's 7th in the most interceptions won league and has the 3rd best pass completion rate in the team.
He should obviously start against Villa but we still need to bring in another midfieder. We need competition and a bigger squad with more quality.
If the interceptions league is one of the areas you judge Lucas on, then his finish of 17th, 16th, 71st and 45th in previous seasons isnt exactly impressive.

He's also 4th in the most fouls pr game league fwiw.

Lucas or Allen would have been critical imho. Having a 3rd midfielder out there would have won us the game.
I agreed with you about Lucas starting and he should have done that aswell.

Why managers have to prove a point and outsmart everyone is beyond me.
If its working dont fix it. Keep it simple. Either Coutinho or Sturridge should have started on the bench.

The partnership with Lampard for England also didn't work because Gerrard wasn't a DM at his peak and so won't be one now.

If he's not the best player in our team for the position he actually can play, then drop him.
