I am putting a lot of faith in Brendan's coaching skills here. Moreno seems to have pace, great technical ability and heart, all of which bodes well. Signings which have not necessarily worked out - alberto, aspas, assaidi, borini - were all lacking in these depts. So here's to BR in getting the best out of him.

You had to remind us, hadn't you? I still think, good as coach Rodgers may be, he seems not a very good judge of value.

That feels like a large initial payment, these deals seem to typically be spread out into a bunch of smaller allotments.

This reminds me more of when we signed Alonso. Up and coming, highly rated Spaniard.

Very very nervous about this one ... and I'm basing that only on the reaction of the Sevilla fans on hearing of our bid. It's not often so many fans would get it wrong.

To be fair, some of them wanted Alberto back as part of the deal as opposed to Suso.
Get what you're saying though.

That and they're not the only two Spanish left backs in the world. He had more competition than Enrique.

Its quite amazing with all the confirmed bids, that the Sevilla president isn't aware of any

Been struggeling abit these young south europeans that has come our way last few years except Coutinho. Hopefully he will be a useful asset, although I originally has no concern about the left back. Enrique and Flannaghan can cover that one. More worried about other positions.

For that amount of money you would expect him to have very few faults and for him to improve the team straight away, by the sounds of it we are buying potential with him having plenty of work to do to improve as a player, add in our history with left backs and its hard not to be a bit wary about this one.

I wonder how this back line would get on with the current style of football we play:

....................Migs
...........Lovren...Sakho
Johnson......Gerrard........Moreno

Obviously the wing backs playing a little further forward. Johnson and Moreno look primarily like they're more comfortable going forward not defending, and they're likely to be asked to do that. Lovren looks a very good CB, but would him/Sakho/Gerrard fix the problems we've had this season where we've been weak at the back?

I'd probably prefer to see Flanno take Johnson's position based on this seasons form, and Flanno is a better defender, but doesn't as much going forward as Johnson (when he's in the mood).

Adding Lovren would help defensively, but I'm not sure if we're going to be much better off. We struggled when the opposition ran down the middle at Gerrard and the CB's just as much as when they came down the sides.
