Liverpool bid £16mil for Alberto Moreno

Enrique's been a success, he has his flaws, but he was successful with Newcastle and has done well for us, his link up play the season before last with Suarez, Coutinho and Sturridge was excellent at times.

Anyway, this seems more or less a done deal, so that's Lambert, Can and Moreno for £32m (ish), not bad for transfer market amateurs, or do we still need to blow £30m on someone just because we can?

We still didn't address 2 of our biggest needs (IMO): central defense and a playmaker to compete/alternate with Coutinho. That's going to more than double the spending.

Yeah but there's a while to go yet Rurik, two months nearly and it's already obvious from the Lallana saga that we're trying to rectify at least one of those issues.

Of course, I'm not being impatient at all. We are already moving quicker in this transfer window than at any time in recent memory.

We've been repeatedly linked with Lallana and Lovren, that ticks both of your boxes.

I think they're the two key positions now though, as you said. Lambert was a shrewd buy for £4m because we definitely needed another striker and we did it without having to spend big.

I cant stand Enrique.

I think his instagram has something to do with that too. Cunt's like Dreamy with pictures.
He buddy buddies with the teenage element of our squad a little too much for my liking, it's a bit weird.

The signings of Lambert, Can and to an extent Moreno are all about building out the squad (with a blend of experience and youth) but Rodgers talked about bringing in genuine quality this summer and unless we can strike lucky it's probably gonna require us to shit a load of money on someone.

I'm guessing that someone is Lallana but I'll still be holding one for another big arrival.

Hopefully Lovren comes in too.

Indeed, you always get highley rated prospects with international caps for peanuts.

Seriously though, its a bit to much. But thats the premium you pay for these kind of players.

Yup ... it seems like an odd signing ... I just wish we had someone from somewhere saying what was said about Studge and Coutinho.

Oh well, here's hoping.

How's it an odd signing? I don't see that at all. He's a highly rated young left back. We need a new young left back. Looks completely reasonable to me.

The Sevilla fans don't seem too keen ... It just seems like a steady eddy. That being said - I've barely watched him bar a few games for the Spain U21s, so what's scaring me is such a high fee ...

solado was 30 million with 12 million initial fee.

Probably a similar thing here, we 10 up front, rest on appearances/trophies etc.

He might be a good signing or a bad signing, I just don't think it's an odd signing.

I think it's pretty clear what to expect with Moreno. He must be of a certain standard to play for Spain at 21 – so he definitely won't be awful. But stats and other things suggest that he isn't great (yet) either – for instance it's not clear that he is already overall a better player than Enrique. If this signing goes through, I hope next season he can offer us something different compared to Enrique – more thrust in attack but hopefully without being a defensive liability. But we won't know if £17M is a money well spent probably until a year or two later.

It's difficult for us as fans to reserve judgement, but we'll have to try to do it – because this is a long-term investment. The price is pretty high for a full-back, but if he can solve our LB issues for years to come then it's probably worth it.

One of Markovich/Lallana + Shaquiri to come

its looking like an awesome transfer window. May just be our best ever.

I would expect him to be pretty tasty going forward but fairly weak defensively, but with the promise of that improving over the years.

I think that might add more than we expect to the team, because we haven't had a defensively sound left back since Enrique got injured, and our input from full back is IMO the weakest area of our attack.

I hope Moreno improves after joining us, his defensive ability is questionable. As far as I have seen him in Europa league games, he seemed immature like Flana when defending one on one.

Yep, this is my chain of thought, even if he is only as good as Enrique, this will be a huge improvement on last season, and in theory he'll improve as the season/s goes on!
