Liverpool set to sell Naming Rights to new Stadium

I wouldn't want our new ground to be like The Emirates

Soulless corporate US style bowl

It's a fucking 'venue' not a football stadium

They should rename it "The Lucarse Bowl"

Imagine how ace that would be in 2012, seeing our captain, Lucarse, stride out into our brand new stadium to take on Doncaster

Yayyyyyyyyyy!

And the famous chant would ring out across The Lucarse Bowl:

"Lucarse Is A Good Player
He Helps Us To Control Games!
And Keep Our Shaaaaaaaape!"

How's the Emirates more of a Venue than a stadium? The place is magnificent.

And anyone who knows their footy, will remember that Highbury was always nicknamed "the library" so it shouldn't be a surprise that The Emirates is also quiet. It's the fans fault.

p.s. Highbury was a shit hole of a stadium.

Ah, the cunt that was Terrier.

I drove him to press the *ignore* button on me.

You lot did the rest.

What difference does it make? Bank balance chocker, rename the Kop 'The Anfield Kop' call the stadium The Coca Cola Bowl, everyone will still say 'going Anfield' or 'going the match'. Whatever.

Another piece of football sold down the river.

-sigh-

I agree with you mate, I lament modern footy. But, how do you compete?

Not really got a problem with this. Many will still refer to it as Anfield anyway.

Yeah, cause all Arsenal fans love going to Ashburton Grove.

it'll depend if it's a new ground or not. if it's a rename of anfield then everyone will still just call it anfield - people call the emirates the emirates because it doesn't have a previously well-established name.

yup. and with the rumours rife with redevelopment rather than relocation, i'm not arsed if we're the ann summers stadium

Who cares what its officially dubbed, its the fans that make it what it is it's the fans that will ultimately cause the media to follow suit in 9 articles out of 10.

"@Andrew_Heaton: "We are actively seeking a naming partner if we move to a new stadium but will definitely not consider renaming Anfield" Ian Ayre"

Is that a new quote then, as it would indicate they've not decided they're staying at Anfield?
[/quote]

Not sure.

I'm guessing it's from the initial statement/interview but who knows ?

EDIT:

Maybe we'll move IF someone wants to stump up a park load of cheddar ?

It's from today, it seems nothing is set in stone in regards to a move or staying, it's just they are leaning towards redevelopment.

Strange, I thought the redevelopment was nearly confirmed. Read somewhere that we actually made up our minds in december about redeveloping Anfield.
