Liverpool's insurers

I think it's better to avoid using the products or services of any company whose name appears on Manchester United shirts. I have always tried to boycott United sponsors and I'm sure many other people around the UK must do the same, because although they have a large fanbase, they are probably also the most unpopular club in the country. I sometimes wonder if companies who want their names to be associated with Man U are really aware how disliked they are.

That said, it is a bit daft to cut off your nose to spite your face, if you really need to use a product or service that is associated with the Scum. Aon is one of those companies that are so large that it is difficult to avoid them! For example, they pay my pension on behalf of my former employers. I am not inclined to refuse to accept these payments on moral grounds.

Aon are the second-largest insurance brokers in the world and it must be the case that they offered the club the best deal. I wouldn't criticise the club for dealing with them if it saved them money.

I've banged on this for years; it's only now that our owners are really ramping up on sponsors and commercial activities but we're really playing catch-up.

The Mancs were tied in to the 3rd largest bank in Malaysia; which annoyed me because I had an account with them. I closed that when I left for Norwich. I come back and now they're tied up with THE largest bank in Malaysia.

Retail bank perhaps. I doubt there'll be many, if any, bigger investment banks around than Standard Chartered.

Portly, I share your doubt about the lack of awareness on the part of some companies of how double-edged a connection with ManUre can be. So I tell them, when a suitable occasion (i.e.if they tout for my business) presents itself .

I'm certain people in advertising would have thought this and decided it makes very little difference in the grand scheme of things. It isn't an oversight.

Do both Celtic and Rangers have the same beer on their shirts (Carling) so as to not adversely affect sales in half of Glasgow ?
