I did a quick search and couldn't find a dedicated thread. So unless mods think otherwise I hope this one will be ok.

I'm excited about it actually. It's great it's in London - Although the traffic and travel bollocks has already started.

Anyone a fan of any type of Olympic sport? (Other than footy and beach volleyball obviously)

Anyone know where I can watch the opening ceremony online? Doesn't seem to be on TV in the US for another few hours.

I will be going to the games, looking forward to seeing the olympic park!

Opening ceremony starting a bit late though

Thanks, but it's not working too well for me.

But I just worked out I can probably get on sky go and watch it there, just need to work out my log in details.

Well, from my point of view as a foreigner, I thought it was different and very interesting. No real clichés.
I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Loved the opening ceremony. And I always enjoy the smaller sports that don't much coverage outside of the Olympics.

In particular I'll be watching:
rowing, volleyball, beach volleyball, boxing, table tennis, swimming, cycling.

I love it when a small country that has never won a medal, wins their first medal, or wins a gold. This Olympics is going to be great.

Loved it.

Bond.

Becks, styling it the FUCK OUT.

The rings, forged from steel, rising up.

Arctic Monkeys.

The cauldron.

The "FUCK YOU CAMERON !" NHS celebration.

Wicked.

I let my kids stay up for most of it, and they were transfixed by the whole thing. Aimee described it as 'the most amazing thing ever'. I did wonder if it was a bit like a series of British in-jokes, and if anyone from foreign cultures would get half of it.

Still, I thought it was a pretty extraordinary show for the most part.

I've never seen such brazen propoganda in this country as the section dedicated to the national cult of the NHS. It was like some kind of Soviet-era mass tribute to collectivisation, and I'm fucked if I'm going to have my mind contaminated with such nonsense.

Still, the games have started now, so onwards to glory.

What would you have liked to have see in its place?

I thought it was pish.

Then again, I'm not very agreeable when in working at 6am.

It needed a bit of TARDIS and some daleks.

Looks like the Brits have fucked Cavendishs chances up. 1.00 behind a group of 24 surely thats going to be to difficult to make up.

Theres not a chance in the world they would chase the group down. There are to many quality cyclists in the leading group.
