Deserves a thread really.

Was amazing today. Both Brendan and Gerrard praised him after the game.
Helped us control the midfield and made some important interceptions.
Also provided the pass for Flanno's penalty.
He looks so calm and composed on the ball as well.

Would have been my man of the match if he played the entire game.

Great to know that we have a decent midfield option on the bench.

Heh.

You made a few posts in both the match thread and post match thread and no one bit so finally it gets it's own thread. You're a persistent man Modo!

Yeah, he was good today and nice to see him getting forward too. Credit to Rodgers for changing things early.

Hehe you read me there. But I felt that someone who both Brendan and Gerrard praised after the game deserved some love.

You probably didn't get more bite in the match thread because of the little digs at Flannel Again, that's by the by though. He was very good today, not sure if it was the system change or him personally which changed the game, but he's at least partly responsible anyway. I quite like him in the more advanced role, he's good with the ball and breaks up the play well, i'd start him there against City personally.

Someone else is watching the Carra documentary then!

I think it's a cheap attempt by Sky to boost his popularity, but I'm not complaining. Either him or his dad are lying through their teeth about the past though. Maybe those non-existent beatings as a 7 year old did some long-term damage to Carra's memory.

Yes, it's great that we have a good midfield option on the bench. A few weeks ago many predicted he would start most of the rest of our games.

Hey ho.

Deserves credit today. Played a blinder.
Great to have these kind of options on the bench.

I think it was great that we got Sakho and Lucas back available, but understandably Rodgers is going to stick with what is working at the moment, unless his hand is forced. Was Agger injured today? Sorry, sure its in other threads. I wasn't surprised to see Sakho - would have been a good decision anyway, but with Toure on the bench, I'm thinking Agger wasn't available.

Hey ho.

Still wouldn't mind if he started and he just proved that he's good enough.

Flanno deserved whatever digs he got, if you want to call it that. To me it's called criticism and I wasn't alone in giving him that.

You're alone in making a point of doing it at the slightest excuse. Funny that you then go starting all this bollocks about what Lucas has proved, after half a game.

Like I said, he's a good option to have, he's just not essential to the way we play. It's good that we have the option between the three of Lucas, Allen and Coutinho, but there's a reason none of them are guaranteed a start at the minute (Allen & Lucas moreso), it's down to indifferent form and a repeated failure to back up good performances with a run of the same level of form.

Flanagan does something good and it's a case of people getting carried away with him doing the rudimentary stuff, Lucas has half a good game and "he's just proved that he's good enough".

Go figure why you get on peoples tits.

Half a good game? Behave...

Lucas was a game changer today. So said Brendan and so said our captain, so in my opinion you are the one downplaying his contribution today.

I thought he was great.
I like that him and Allen, as well as him and Gerrard, are now interchangeable for games.

Yea it is good, we don't look particularly lost without any single midfielder. Henderson is maybe the energetic one we don't have a fallback option with, @doctor_mac mentioned him in one of the other threads maybe Diame could perhaps fill that gap for cheaps.

Flannagan redeemed himself you claimed, redeemed himself for what? Flannel was fine. Your tendency to single out scousers for critism because you think no one else on here will critise them is wrong and tedious.

Diame has a heart condition, what the hell do you want for him to put his life on the line for you? Allen is pretty energetic too in any case, and usually keeps the ball quite well.

Personally, while I thought Lucas got the job done, I didn't think he was extraordinary. He looked incredibly awkward when in a more advanced role, which is what I expect from him.

The change ultimately won us the midfield back, but I think more credit goes to BR for making the change than Lucas for executing.

55% poss in the first half and 71% in the second half.

Good tactical sub by Rodgers.

Is Gerrard a scouser? In that case I need to start laying into him a bit more.
Yes he redeemed himself because he was having an awful game. He did fine...please...

You were doing that quite happily in the first half of the season.

Flanagan is, or was a lowly reserve player with no future. Rodgers in a moment of utter stupidity thought Cissokho was a good signing for left back. What do you propose? We'd be fucked had we seen out the season with him in the team, there would certainly not have been any title challenge.

Any ordinary young player, McLaughlin included, would have completely crumbled, cost us points, and then cost us more points when we were forced to go back to Aly Cissokho. Flanagan isn't the best player, but he dealt with the pressure, doesn't give up, doesn't go hiding, doesn't do stepovers against thin air, and he focuses on doing his job competently. That's a rare attitude and one that virtually guarantees he's going to get better and better for us. We owe him a debt of gratitude for saving the club from what could have been a disastrous loan signing.
