Their contracts are ending summer 2020, why haven't their contracts been renewed? Is this Edwards being obtuse?
Lallana, I could care less, if anything taking him off the wage bill would be a blessing

Milner will be 34 next summer and it's perfectly conceivable that he wants to finish his career at Leeds utd and therefore hasn't had a contract offer because he doesn't want one

Milner is moving to Leeds.
Matip has another year left.
Speaking to Bild am Sonntag, he said when asked about a return to the Bundesliga: ”In football nothing is impossible. At the moment I still have two years remaining in my contract here at Liverpool.
(Article from June this year)

Pearce said he expects new contracts for both of them to be sorted during the next months.

Don't think Milner will be getting a new contract, by then it's best if he moved on anyway.

Matip 100% deserves new contract and hope it gets sorted before Christmas

I hope he does get another year. He is a calming influence in the team and still as fit as someone 5 years younger.
I hope he is given coaching responsibility when he does decide to hang his boots.

I'd rather we gave the game time to someone young and fresh like Naby and Ox.

Wouldn't lose sleep over Milner leaving

I love Milner, hes been a magnificent signing for us and integral to the squad unity Klopp has built. That said I have absolutely no issue with either party deciding that this will be his last season at Anfield.

From the clubs perspective he will be 34 next summer and its very much a law of diminishing returns for a midfielder at that age, particularly one whose game is built on relentless stamina like Milner. Theres also the issue of older players staying too long that block the development of younger players that need game time.

From his perspective hes won everything in the game and hes often expressed a desire to end his career back at Elland Rd, if the get promoted this season I think he will go back. It probably very much suits him to delay any contract talks until he knows what will happen with Leeds.

If this is his last season Id love to see him back as a coach when he does finally hang up his boots in 2028.

Gini, Matip and Milner all tipped for new deals.

Mad to think he will have played most games for us by the end of season over all his other teams. Still seems like he only signed last season.

Rodgers did well in his last window.

Firmino, Milner, Gomez and Origi.

Regarding Matip -

Also a bit of an update on Joel Matip’s situation. He signed a 4-year deal in 2016 but the club had the option to extend it by a further year which they have enacted. As a result he’s under contract until summer 2021. #LFC

And Milner?

Liverpool midfielder James Milner is in the final year of his deal with the club but Reds boss Jurgen Klopp believes the 33-year-old will sign an extension to his contract. (Express)

Joel Matip has today signed a new long-term contract with Liverpool Football Club.

The centre-back put pen to paper on the deal at Melwood on Friday afternoon, committing his future to the Reds.

Matip told Liverpoolfc.com moments after inking the terms: “It’s a great feeling to be a longer part of the club. It’s really just a great feeling.

“From outside, you know Liverpool is such a big club – but when you are inside, then you really get a feeling for how big the club is. In all the countries, the supporters are everywhere. It’s a massive and big club that I think every player would want to play for.

“We have a young and talented team and I think every one of us is hungry. Now we’ve seen how it is to win something and we want to have that feeling again.

“There are a lot of things still to achieve. You never know how it will end, you just have to work hard and do the best you can do. Then we will see.

“It is an honour to be a part of the club. It makes me happy that people think I’ve done a good job and they want to keep me.”

Matip joined Liverpool on a free transfer from FC Schalke 04 in the summer of 2016 after graduating through the German club’s youth ranks and making more than 250 senior appearances for them – 194 of which were in the Bundesliga.

The 28-year-old has since gone on to represent the Reds 107 times, scoring on five occasions.

His performances at the heart of Jürgen Klopp’s side’s defence alongside Virgil van Dijk were integral in the club’s Champions League success last season and he even laid on an assist for Divock Origi’s crucial second in the Madrid final in June.

Matip already has two goals to his name so far this term – his best tally during a campaign for Liverpool – and is due to return to action on Sunday against Manchester United having missed the clashes with FC Salzburg and Leicester City due to a minor knock.
