Juan Mata.
Linked with him today actually.

Mata and Dzeko.

Perfect.

However, I have NO confidence whatsoever in Hodgson spending any money well.

It could be the most frustrating window ever.

I can't think of anyone I really want. There are quite a few good players that I'd love us to get, but I don't know that any would qualify as a marquee signing.

The only available 'name' player is Aguero I think and I'm not altogether convinced he's as good as he's made out to be.

The squad needs gutting and starting afresh really, but that's going to be easier said then done.

My first choice eleven is:

----------------Torres------------
-------------------------Kuyt--------------------
----Cole-----Gerrard--Meireles---Johnson---
-----Konch----Carra---Agger-----Kelly----
---------------------Reina

Our priorities are:

A new ball-winning CB to ultimately replace Carragher.
A creative, versatile striker
Another CM
And if the Johnson on the wing experiment fails, an actual winger.

All of these are equally important.

Players who need to leave: Babel, Lucas, Poulsen

Players I'm not really arsed about: Kuyt, Maxi, Konchesky, one of Skrtel or Agger,

I've no idea of which players I want to come in, but I want them to be young, quick, and already showing great promise. I want us to be snapping up the Mullers, Ramsay's & co.

Müller is going to be awesome. 21 years old, hugely intelligent, highly creative, scores 1 in 3 from the wing, and he's already won the Bundesliga, and reached a CL Final and a World Cup semi.

Admittedly we have almost zero chance of getting him, but he'd definitely qualify as a marquee signing if we did.

We're not going to get any of Bayern's top players though.
Probably not Müller. Robben seemed very keen on us though (if also very wrong about how good we'd be this season).

Bunny, have you been missing all the champagne football Cole, Gerrard and Torres have been playing?

You need to stop playing footie and watch us more regularly.

Forlan
Good shout. He said he's "interested" in coming to England recently too.

Superb player, although he might be deemed too old by the new owners.

Forlan's done really well for Atletico and looked the biz in the World Cup, but it would bother me a bit that he's already tried and failed once to make it over here.

I'd take Robben if he ever became available. Can't believe he's only 26.
I bet he says the same thing every time he looks in the mirror.

Any of Bayerns top players, i.e. Muller (pipe dream), Robben or even Toni Kroos.

Any of Valencia's top players, i.e. Juan Mata for the left of course or even Ever Banega.

Defour to replace the hapless Poulsen.

The biggest signing would be getting a manager that doesn't play Meireles on the right wing, thinks Poulsen is a decent footballer and acutally thinks pressing is a good thing.

Love all this.

i think we need more than 1 big signing. i'd go for ryan shawcross, scott parker, and carlton cole, assuming roy hodgson's still here.

Ugh. You shat on our meringue!

Shawcross would be okay, but I know the Mancs have first option on him.

I Like Parker, but it's a few years too late now, and Cole is just pretty shit.

it's chocolate.

anyway, i forgot about a winger: i reckon charles n'zogbia might fit the bill if roy can't tempt damian duff from fulham.

Marquee signing - Mata would be great.
Normal signing - Seb Larsson could be good for our squad and his contract in up this season.

There is a number of players that contracts run out in june. Carew and Miranda are two I wouldn't mind having in our squad.

Kevin Doyle? Carlton Cole?

Some of you lads are confused. I said Marquee Signing, not fucking 'One Man Tent' signing.
