Javi Martinez would be ideal. A bit in the Xabi mould, oozes class and glorious feet. His buy out clause is ridiculous but are they ever implemented in Spain?

My realisitic list is;

Javi Martinez
Juan Mata
Steven Defour

I would also like to pinch Garay from Madrid if he is still there. He was great for Santander but hasn't got a run at Madrid at all. I know he went back on loan to Satander two seasons ago but haven't seen him play much since.

I don't think any of the Bayern top player's are realistic at all to be honest.
that looks like a good list to me.

i think we need a proper defensive midfielder, another all-rounder midfielder, a left winger and a striker.

so maybe:

lassana diarra - altough could be anyone in that mould
one of defour or javi martinez
juan mata
luis fabiano

sell babel, aquilani, lucas, poulsen. oh, and get a proper manager in pronto.

i'd hold fire on a centre half because i think the likes of kelly and ayala are good enough to deserve a chance.

I've liked Zarate every time I've seen him play, but his goal-scoring stats are very disappointing given the out doubted talent he has.

I think he's a player who could blossom into one of the best around, but he represents a big risk, and is a bit of a dumb-fuck if truth be told.

Mourinho will do for me.

Ta.
You'll burn in hell for that!
Hahaha, was waiting for someone to notice that.

I'm serious though, our most important signing is a manager, not a player. And I'd love Mourinho here, despite some peoples deep seated irrational hatred for him, & despite the fact it will never happen.

Lewis Holtby from Mainz (belongs to Schalke). Not too well known (yet), but surely a star in the making. And he is British.
I just read his wikipedia...it seems he is an Everton supporting scouser...

Do you know anything more about him? Sounds very interesting, could be a great value signing in many aspects...provided he is actually good at playing football.

Decent shout dmishra.

There are a number of wide players who would be a massive improvement on what we currently have and they wouldn't cost the world. One or two of Sanchez, Elia, Hazard, Turan, Mata, Navas, Marin, Costa etc would transform our side in the final 3rd.

Hopefully we'll make better use of our resources in future and buy the right one for us.

Basically, a marquee signing should mean the next Messi/Ronaldo. This is the guy we should be after

Douglas Costa 2010 FC Shakhtar Donetsk
Sponsored by us as well!
Haha! Nice spot.

Cardozo is the biggest, slowest donkey ever.
Thats so untrue it hurts. Pace isn't his biggest asset I'll give you that, but 6"4 and 61 goals in 80 games speaks for itself. He would be fantastic next to Torres.

Dzeko would be my first choice though.

Haha. Great spot indeed. Makes him a must buy now surely!

Out:

Lucas Leiva.
Christain Poulsen.
Ryan Babel.
Fabio Aurelio.
Milan Jovanovic.

In:

Eden Hazard.
Davide Santon.
Thomas Muller.
Edin Dzeko.
Stephen Defour.

Cheers Santa.

Speaking of Aurelio, what the fuck is up with him this time? And IF he were fit would people rather have him in ahead of Konchesky?

Fuck knows. Cat aids or something.

The guy makes Rob Jones and Vedgy Heggem look like Ian Callaghan.

Never been impressed with Cardozo in the slightest, Hansern. I only pointed the pace issue out because you said we need players with pace. Whenever I've seen him he's been a bit of an oaf up front, poor touch and generally just laboured around until he gets a freekick/penalty/something plonked onto his head. No thanks.

I want Dzeko despite never seeing him play.

Yeah, we need players with pace. But we have Torres upfront so my initial thought was pacey wingers.

I've been very impressed with Cardozo. Strong, great touch and shoots like a fucking horse. The man shits goals. He's the perfect target man.

Dzeko is my first choice aswell tbh. But Cardozo would be playing for a big club in EPL, La Liga or Serie A now, if he hadn't been so shite in the WC.

Ha well we must have been watching different games because we have opposite opinions. Fair enough. I will agree that he has got a great strike, though.

I'm not sure who I'd have these days. Mata is a good shout, as is Dzeko, but they're both a tad unrealistic.

I find myself looking at Everton's team recently, actually, and wishing we had signed a few of their players before they did. That's how bad it's gotten here.

Yep would love The Zarate Kid. His feuds with Totti over the last few season's we're fun.

Ha, probably. I agree though. Wouldn't have minded Pienaar, Baines or Jagielka tbh.

I don't think Baines is much (if any) better than what we've got. Pienaar and Jagielka are good players though, even if Pienaar's a 12-cylinder cnut.

I don't know.. Dzeko is a 30M player supposedly and Valencia have said they don't need to sell any more. Mata would probably jump at the chance to leave however as I recall reading that he's still on a contract paying him peanuts.

I like Elia. He's pacey and can beat players. Douglas was the young Brazilian Man Utd were meant to be interested in, right?

I really like Baines. I'd take Pienaar, Arteta, Jagielka and any of their forwards except for Beckford as back up to Torres. There's so much shite in our ranks at the moment.

Yakubu? Fuck no. He's older than Hodgosn.

Suarez ST
Douglas Costa AMC/R/L
Pablo (if Valencia would sell) AM R
Defour and another DM.
Sissoko(sp) LB

We won't be sugar daddy rich so I don't like that idea of spending 30m on one player when there's other talented players out there that are probably a similar level for a much cheaper price.

I also have a feeling that if offered a big enough sum of money Torres would be sold in the summer.

With regards to Luiz Suarez:

In the past watching him play for Ajax - the Season when he was shitting goals - I wasn't at all convinced. He missed at least five sitters in every game even in those where he scored three. His shot-to-goal ratio must've been one of the worse in quite some time.

And when you then look at the likes of Kuyt, Alves and Huntelaar coming from the same league shitting goals and see how much they've struggled to hit the same figures everywhere else (Huntelaar has started well in Schalke mind) you'd be inclined to think that a fee in the region of £20M and upwards for Suarez would be a good waste of money.

However I've slightly changed my stance after watching the first games of the new Season as he not only look much matured but also far more dangerous. His freekicks are out of this world really and his eye for his team-mates has improved a lot.

I'd be tempted if he were indeed avaliable in the region of say £20M at this stage as he's gone from decent with a marvellous goal-record to great with very much the same ammount of goals to his name.

Most of the players mentioned in this thread, while good players, are not marquee players.

I'd go with Arjen Robben.
