After missing out on Brazilian youngster Neymar, Real Madrid have turned their attention to Luis Suarez.

The *** reports Real are looking to bolster their squad significantly in the summer in order to reclaim the title from rivals Barcelona. Part of that plan includes contacting the Uruguayan's agent Pere Guardiola - brother of incoming Bayern Munich boss Pep - ahead of launching a £40 million bid. It is said Suarez tops Real's wish-list as he is better value than £52 million Napoli striker Edinson Cavani.

Still in Madrid and the link between Real and Tottenham's Gareth Bale grows stronger. The Daily Mail claims the La Liga giants are set to test Spurs' resolve with a £65 million offer in the summer. The staggering bid is thought to be another response to Barcelona's domestic dominance and ability to capture Neymar for next season.

Monaco's spending spree could be set to continue, with theDaily Mail reporting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic is their top defensive target. Manchester City skipper Vincent Kompany was their ideal target, but after being rejected in their approaches for the Belgium international, the newly-rich French side have turned their attention to Ivanovic. Monaco are reportedly set to offer £25 million for his services.

Finally, the Daily Mirror states Everton's pursuit of Wigan manager Roberto Martinez is heating up. A £5 million fee may need to be exchanged between the clubs in order to complete the deal, due to the Spaniard's rolling contract, giving the Latics the upper hand in negotiations.

The news comes as a blow to Everton, who received no such payment for David Moyes - who left for Manchester United to replace Sir Alex Ferguson - after his contract expired.
 
Why would Suarez be 12 million cheaper than Cavani, or 20 million cheaper than Bale? If we were to sell it should be at the market rate, which is in the region of 50 million pounds.

Falcao has just joined Monaco for 50 million, thats the benchmark

The terrible Tribalfootball . com threw in a couple of names as trade bait - Di Maria, Benzema, Higuain, and Lopez.

Assuming that's totally made up as well, would we take any two of them? I don't follow Real enough to say whether any of them would fit in with Rogers' vision/system.
 
Tbh, I just want this, and all our other transfer activity, sorted before July, I hope he stays though.

We explained the situation surrounding any move by Real Madrid for Luis Suárez in MARCA on Friday. The club has made contact with the Uruguayan forward but two important obstacles still need to be cleared: Firstly a decision has to be taken and then an offer must be made to his club Liverpool where he is still under contract. Therefore, if any move is to be made for the player, Real Madrid must make it.

The price Liverpool is asking for the player is over €40 million as the Premier League side has no desire to sell Suárez and sources in England say no offer of less than €45 million will interest the club. Therefore without some sort of negotiation with the English club, no deal will be made.

Meanwhile, the player is waiting to see if his future can be resolved - and it is not out of the question that he remains in the Premier League. He is currently enjoying a few days of holiday in his native Uruguay before travelling to the Confederations Cup where he will face Spain and before then a friendly with France and a qualifier for the 2014 World Cup against Venezuela.

The local press in Uruguay made mention of the Marca front cover from Friday about the possible move. Whichever club Luis Suárez does find himself at next season, he will still have to complete the remaining six games of the suspension that he still has to complete.

Fuck 45m euros!!! I'd want offers over £70m. That's nearly double the price quoted. If Real want him then let them fucking well pay for him.
 
I read somewhere today that Madrid doubled barcas offer for Neymar. If they can offer crazy money for him, Suarez is worth 4 times Neymar then.

Real fair enough , but are Atletico really that exciting a prospect ? they're not going to challenge for the league there and who knows how often they'll qualify for the champs league .

and i fucking hate how champions league football is the be all and end all these days . if you're in a team competing to win then fine but if not who gives a fuck, there are loads of shite teams and players in it .

The future of Luis Suárez
This is the kind of story Liverpool fans don’t want to hear, but it has happened before and will happen again –it is law of football and a consequence of the stage the club is in, progressing but not at the level where they can expect their best player to ignore interest from other more successful clubs. Liverpool Football Club are resigned to lose Luis Suarez and are preparing life without him. They are aware of the interest from top clubs in Europe and Liverpool feel they have done as much as they can to convince him to stay, and everything is now in the players’s court.

He is happy in Liverpool, the club has looked after him and he feels settle for the first time since he left his home in Uruguay. The family atmosphere has helped him grow and he feels the club has done everything that it was required so he could focus in his game. We all have read the interviews, I have heard him say it himself. But…

At this stage of his career, he would like to test himself in the biggest stage, the Champions League. He hoped Liverpool could provide that but it hasn’t been the case. He expects the progression of the team will take them to the top four at some point but he has heard there are clubs like Real Madrid, Atlético Madrid, Juventus (he is preferred to Higuain), even Chelsea that have shown interest. No offer on the table yet but there will be more than one put during the summer.

His parents in law live near Barcelona and his wife tends to spend time there. Spain is then their preferred destination.

He has a buy out clause which some sources put at £35 million and others at more than £40m. Liverpool will demand the totality of the buy out clause to release the player. There will be clubs willing to pay that. And then it will be all up to the player.

Notice, I DID NOT SAY HE IS GOING TO GO. I am saying, the club is resigned to his departure if he decides to go. And he is aware there is interest from top clubs and is considering his future. That is the stage the situation is in.
 
So his release clause has gone from E35million, to £35m - £40m in the space of a clarification article? Thats quite a big change in a matter of hours. I have no problem with his view on the matters, but it's the inclusion of this made of release clause thats annoyed people, the guy should just be honest and say he has very little idea, and hasn't had since about Benitez's third year here.
