Man City

Mancity in bare bones mode CB wise. They could play Fernandinho, Rodrigo (?) or Walker there but they will be comprised.

Fernandinho would probably be ok against the cannon fodder teams like Norwich lol but against the top six they would struggle with Fernandinho at CB.

Is this actually a bad thing for them? I can see Fernandinho doing a better job.

Worth it for Guardiola chatting shit about it being so unfair being Man City and not getting to spend as much as Everton or something

I can see opposition teams putting in a lot crosses against city now. They look very vulnerable to set pieces.

Norwich are cannon fodder are they now? City wouldn't agree 😀

Goes without saying but we just have to take advantage of any dropped points in this period. If we pull out a 12 point gap by Christmas I'd hope we now have the required experience and nous to be able to hang on to it. Laporte appears to be a bigger blow to them than Allison is to us. Combine that with Stones injury and the Norwich result and you would hope other teams start to have a go against them.

CB is a key area of the team, in fact at the start of the season and in some games in preseason the one thing that I felt was wrong in our defense was communication and organization. I see VVD a few times getting upset with defensive setup. Imagine now for city that they have to play someone there who isn't used to playing in central defensive position.

Vital we take advantage of any slip up this side of xmas.

We generally score less points after Xmas and City have the ability to win an insane number of games in a row.

Hopefully we can build up a big enough lead that they give up.

This has always been Pep's blind spot – failing to adequately replace defenders, thinking that by sticking one of his many surplus midfielders there together with his genius tactics, he can always plug the gap. His Bayern got eliminated from CL each Spring because they were paper-thin at the back at a crucial time and there were signs of neglect of this position at Barcelona already, like preferring a converted midfielder to the great Carles Pujol.

2 seasons ago we repeatedly took advantage on Delph's weakness at LB; now they have a similarly suspect Zinchenko at LB and no fit CBs bar Otamendi. They are already conceding the largest % of goals in the league from set plays. This Man City team are almost perfect in every other department, but this is a clear weakness that was exposed by Norwich and hopefully more and more opponents will learn to exploit it.

Or just do what Norwich did and play against their press.

They proved you don't need 11 world class players that cost in excess of 1 bill to outplay them.

Did anyone see Carraghers bit on Monday night football about the city Norwich match? I actually took a photo of the stats because it was quite surprising but I don't think I can attach.

Carragher pointed out Norwich only defended the width of the 18 yard box and surrendered anything beyond, which allowed city their most crosses in a game under Guardiola - 31. They then showed the top 6 matches for city crosses under Guardiola, they lost 4 and drew 2. Is this the way for everyone to play them? I hope so.

Yeah I saw that. Was also interesting to see that they've lost or drawn games where they've been forced to cross it often.
