Hard to call. So many played well. I'd have Lovren in for Gomez, though. I thought Gomez looked vulnerable against their left-side attack.

  1. Coutinho – maybe not one of his "unplayable" performances, but even his 90% is usually enough to be the best player on the pitch; almost made a breakthrough with a trademark free-kick and finally scored the all-important opening goal with a really genius move. Was pretty diligent on defensive duties too; really can't complain about this performance.
  2. Henderson – playing as the deepest of the midfield 3, he set the tone early with some excellent through-balls, "power" interceptions where he would sprint forward 20-30 yards to nick the ball and even some adventurous runs into the penalty area. More performances like this and critics will have much less ammunition.
  3. Robertson – was a very hard decision between him and Klavan. Harsh to leave Klavan out after a performance where he literally didn't put a foot wrong all game – like I've been saying, his recent run of form is definitely the best from any LFC centre-back this season and when Matip comes back I think based on performance it should be Klavan + one other. Anyway, back to Robertson – his performance was full of energy, always providing an outlet for Coutinho and always getting back to defend when needed. He played his part in Phil's goal, first with a very soft and cute pass and then sprinting forward to take away one of the defenders. He looks like a smart player and I think there is a lot more to come.
Honorable mention to pretty much everyone else. Gomez didn't have one of his showcase games, but still did a lot of good things. What a joy to have a young player like him in the side; maturing in front of our eyes! Ox brought bite, energy and a bit of chaos into the midfield 3. Salah worked extremely hard as usual and finally got rewarded with his 20th of the season. Firmino did his usual stuff and got a goal and an assist. Ming was solid when called upon. Klopp brought back the 4-3-3 and it worked perfectly against Bournemouth flat 4-4-2 – we didn't just have better players, but total tactical domination as well. After the weird blip last week we are back on track.
