What high profile managers have resigned recently due to performances (rather than off the field stuff)?

It's always sacked or mutual consent.

Obviously there will be some, but I can't think of anyone.

Argh! I thought this thread was telling me our manager was resigning! Damn! Off the top of my head I can't think of any premier league manager resigning in recent times.

Did Kenny resign? And what about Keegan?

According to wiki: Keegan resign from England, Man City and Newcastle. Dalglish resigned from Liverpool but that could have been due to Hillsborough.

Keegan's latest Newcastle one was because of shenanigans behind the scenes rather than based on results.

Although to be fair to him England was purely down to results and he showed some honesty that is sadly lacking in many these days.

Did O Neill step down.

Yeah he quit but it was because he wasnt getting the Milner transfer fee to reinvest in the team

The pay offs now are so big that managers will hang on until they are fired so that they can have their contracts bought out no matter how badly the team plays. Thats clearly the case now with Roy, he knows the jig is up and he is forcing them to fire him and buy out his contract. When you openly berrate your own fans and then follow it up by saying you will never quit under and circumstances you are forcing the hand of the chairman
