He wanted to leave, played on for a year because we were in a transitional period and then forced a transfer when the club tried to renege on a gentleman's agreement to sell him. I can also understand if he was a bit under-awed that the so called big club he was playing for had just appointed Roy fucking Hodgson as a manager.
I hold him in much higher regard than Michael Judas Own and his (perpetually on holiday) agent and Steve McMoneyman. Not to mention cunts like Torres who forced a move to a rival club during the January transfer window.
I'd welcome him back in a heartbeat.

I would say that what Torres did was .... just shocking, I think he is the first player ever at this club to go to a rival club in the same league. If he had forced us to sell him to a foreign club then the feeling would be different. As for Masher's comments, the fact that he said anything like that at all suggests that he has some feeling towards our club regardless of the events that led to his departure. On our part as fans we have to be realistic of what can expect from these top international players - especially from the big footballing nations. If our club can not meet their aspirations, they will not want to play for us - its really simple, and sometimes its not all about the players performing well that enables us to win - it has a lot to do with the manager picking the right players for the game and providing the necessary tactics for players to play well and win. I am sure that many of us though about the CL final we lost and Rafa's tactics in that final and choice of players that screwed us up, and his unwillingness to stick to players that were just f*cking us up on occasions. Sometimes I get the feeling managers just throw in the towel to screw the club up to get their redundancy terms paid in full.
