Will we all be well excited when Torres dedicates his Prem medal to LFC fans who welcomed him when he came to England? allow that.

I do like Mascher, and am convinced there are many things to his departure was similar to Xabi. I loved both of them, but both chose to leave us and so it means jack all when they talk about how much they love the club/fans etc

Allow that is fucking right mate.
Stick yer medal. And yer trying to win respect because its the mancs you beat.

Here's a quick timeline for people who have forgotten exactly what went down.
June - Mascherano refuses to answer telephone calls from the club.
July - Mascherano snubs calls from Hodgson who admits he doesnt know when he will return.
July 13th - Mascherano calls the idea of moving to Inter to play with Benitez as 'A dream'
August - Mascherano comes back after an extended break and starts to make noises about wanting out.
August 18th - Lionel Messi quotes 'Javier won't play for the club again, I can assure you of that, and I think the Liverpool coach knows that now'
August 23rd - Mascherano refuses to play and tells Liverpool that they should accept the 12m being offered for him as its fair (Liverpool lose the game 3-0 after having to change the team 6 hours before kick off)
August 24th - Mascherano admits to having agreed terms with Barcelona even though no agreement has been reached. Messi describes Liverpool as being unfair.
August 27th - Mascherano transfers to Barcelona leaving Liverpool without a first choice DM for the coming season.

Fuck him.

i don't have strong feelings either way, because i very rarely expect much of a footballer's off-field behaviour, but it was still interesting to see Tony Barrett on twitter defending him and suggesting there was another side to the story.

He wanted to leave, played on for a year because we were in a transitional period and then forced a transfer when the club tried to renege on a gentleman's agreement to sell him. I can also understand if he was a bit under-awed that the so called big club he was playing for had just appointed Roy fucking Hodgson as a manager.

I hold him in much higher regard than Michael Judas Own and his (perpetually on holiday) agent and Steve McMoneyman. Not to mention cunts like Torres who forced a move to a rival club during the January transfer window.

I'd welcome him back in a heartbeat.

EDIT: It has to be said that his comment after the champions league final has not influenced my thoughts or opinions on him in any way. My thoughts are influenced by the fact that in his last season he was our player of the year despite being unhappy at the club (whatever the reasons are, too much of this is shrouded by guesswork and rumours), whereas cunts like Torres played like they couldn't give a flying fuck when they wanted to leave.
That^^^
That too...............excellent pots Refugee. Top and bottom is we don't know what the fuck was exactly said and what wasn't in those last days, we seem to be very selective what we want to believe what Roy came out with, when it suits us to think one thing we accept it when it does not we don't.

What I do know is that Mascherano never gave us less than 100% when he went out on the pitch and in his last season, he was in a minority of one as regards effort in many matches.

Its got to be taken in context, right?

The way he left was unpalatable, and he rightly got flack for it.

Having left, and then having participated in destroying Utd on the biggest stage in World football, I've got to admit to finding it hilarious that he chose to needle ManU, especially after their fans behaviour in winning 19. Had God not blessed me as Liverpool fan, and the devil taken me for that shite, I would have been fucking livid seeing him make those comments, and Rat Faced Neville was clearly furious!

It is also doubly rewarding, because Mascher has been heavily, and consistently, linked with a move to Utd (who he would undoubtedly have improved). I think you can now assume that this is very unlikely to happen!

I must admit to feeling a lot of sympathy for him because I've been in a similar position. I lived in Scotland for a year and was desperately unhappy because I just didn't settle in the area. I stuck it out for a year, but the whole experience was soul destroying and I completely changed as a person because of it.

Whether it was him or his wife it doesn't matter, to experience an entire year of your life in isolation from friends and family eats away at you and destroys you from within. Anyone that says that he had signed a contract and had to stand by it, or says that he was being paid enormous amounts of money and should have stuck it out must have never been in that position. Sometimes people just don't settle in an area and need to leave and no amount of money can change that.

He didn't have to stay for a year, yes he had a contract but he could have forced his way out of the club as countless others have done (and this would have been the easy thing to do, and what I'd expect from an unhappy footballer in this modern day and age) however he decided to stay seemingly under the impression that if he helped us out he would be allowed to leave. The club seemingly tried to go back on this agreement and he was forced into deciding between another year of misery or having to take a stand; I understand his decision.

I have no idea what the club did to try and make Masher feel at home but I presume they did their best. Also how can you blame them form trying to keep one of their best players...but they did know he was unhappy (SCM did after all), and why they didn't have a replacement lined up is beyond me they should have had a contingency plan, instead we got Poulsen.

You make some good points, and its something Ive banged on about on here for a while ie signign the right man as well as signing the right player.

People's stock response is "well if youre getting 60k a week you just need to suck it up"- which, frankly, is bollocks. These guys dont have to suck it up, because they know there are other options available.

On a not unrelated theme, I remember in one of the big football books released recently a former big name player said they found it remarkable how much clubs were willing to invest in individuals, and then basically leave them to their own devices to sort themselves out in their locality; and in effect criticised the biggest clubs around for not protecting their assets.

If you believe that "he refused to play" is all there is to his departure, then you're extremely naive.

Every LFC journo said after his comments there was more to it and they hope his side comes out soon.

Blaming it all on him is just LFC trying to spin his departure positively. There's alot more that goes on behind the scenes. Example being the Torres/Suarez saga, Torres informed the club that he wanted to leave weeks before his transfer request, the club asked him to keep it quiet so Ajax didnt drive up their asking price for Suarez, which he obliged.

If those journalists were any use they might have maybe written about it
They did.

LIVERPOOL'S rain-soaked supporters who made the trip to Eastlands were let down big time last night. Not by those weary players in red who trudged off at the final whistle having been comprehensively out-thought, out-battled and out-played by an impressive Manchester City side. But by one man still on the Anfield payroll who decided to duck out of a vital clash with the club likely to provide the greatest threat to the Reds' hopes of reclaiming their top four status. Javier Mascherano has made no secret of the fact he wants out and Liverpool's position has been crystal clear from the moment he met Roy Hodgson for the first time with his agent in tow at Melwood last month and demanded a move. The Reds don't want to sell but will reluctantly grant Mascherano his wish if the price is right. In the absence of any bids, Hodgson has been pressing on with Mascherano as part of his plans. For his part the Argentina captain's professionalism had been admirable with his heroic performance against Arsenal on the opening weekend a reminder of how much he would be missed if a deal is done. But all that changed yesterday. After a derisory offer in the region of £12million from Barcelona, which Liverpool swiftly rejected out of hand, Mascherano made himself unavailable for selection.

Thats from the Echo.

So, we're supposed to believe the quotes attributed to Masher and Messi but not those of Pepe re: Not ruling out a move to MANCHESTER UFUCKINGNITED ?

What about Aquilani ?

If quotes are to be believed, he plainly doesn't want to return to Anfield.

Should we "Fuck him" too ?

There's a difference here Themn. Pepe is still here and plans to stay the others aren't and don't....

Well yeah, coz like, he left.
They havnt.
Hahahahaaa !

Jesus.
Im quite forgiving really. I forgave Gerrard flirting with Chelsea, I forgave Pepe for not ruling out united, I would forgive Aquilani (although i think his situation is different as the club clearly didnt want him) but i wont forgive a player refusing to play for us. I remember Van Hoijdonk doing it to Forest and even then as a pup feeling ill thinking about it.
I dont really care about WHY he left or wanted to, while he is there and his wages are paid by our club and by our fans he should play.
If he came out every 5 minutes and said i want to go but still played his heart out then fine, im not overly mad at Arbeloa or Alonso or Crouch or any other player who chooses to leave, but to REFUSE to play.
Like i said 'Fuck him'
