Fuck him the gumpy buck toothed bellend. Don't be dedicating a cup you won with another team to us just because you know there's fuckers out there stupid enough to fall for it and give it all the "Ah, he's alright that Masher"

Yeh he's a quality player of the likes we're crying out for and we fucking well had in our team. Until he fucked off. Whereas I can understand why he wanted out the manner in which he did it and the way he hasn't shut his trap since moving there will never sit well with me.

He wanted to leave, played on for a year because we were in a transitional period and then forced a transfer when the club tried to renege on a gentleman's agreement to sell him. I can also understand if he was a bit under-awed that the so called big club he was playing for had just appointed Roy fucking Hodgson as a manager.

I hold him in much higher regard than Michael Judas Own and his (perpetually on holiday) agent and Steve McMoneyman. Not to mention cunts like Torres who forced a move to a rival club during the January transfer window.

I'd welcome him back in a heartbeat.

EDIT: It has to be said that his comment after the champions league final has not influenced my thoughts or opinions on him in any way. My thoughts are influenced by the fact that in his last season he was our player of the year despite being unhappy at the club (whatever the reasons are, too much of this is shrouded by guesswork and rumours), whereas cunts like Torres played like they couldn't give a flying fuck when they wanted to leave.
That^^^
That too...............excellent pots Refugee. Top and bottom is we don't know what the fuck was exactly said and what wasn't in those last days, we seem to be very selective what we want to believe what Roy came out with, when it suits us to think one thing we accept it when it does not we don't.

What I do know is that Mascherano never gave us less than 100% when he went out on the pitch and in his last season, he was in a minority of one as regards effort in many matches.

regards
I agree wholeheartedly with these two posts.

While it is disappointing that he wanted to leave, as it was with Xabi, and I did not appreciate how he orchestrated the move, I am far from convinced that a player who always gave 110% when playing for us would refuse to play against Man City.
The man himself said he didn't refuse to play, I think there were one or two other players said the same thing and some journalist have also questioned whether the story released by Hodgson was the correct/whole story.

I doubt if we will ever really know what happen with Masher though I wonder would peoples opinion of him changed if the reality of what happened over his final few days as a Liverpool player prove to be kinder to Masher than the often accepted view.

Regardless of what went on and I'm sure there's all kinds of shite floating about as the club was in turmoil- he refused to play.
If you have that on good authority Sunny( and I know you have very good sources) then I will accept it but I think there is enough doubt about what exactly happened to have him hung drawn and quartered for that misdemeanor alone

Why would he have bothered to say those things if the shallow rush-to-judgment school of thought (which it saddens me to see you lining up with) were right about him?

I explained it in the post above. Because there's people who would rather think he's OK than accept the idea that he refused to play which he did. If anything, it's a 'shallow' attempt to ingratiate himself with the Liverpool fans he let down. Who's rushing to any judgement anyway ? It's not like it happened an hour ago is it ?

Sorry but that's no explanation. Doubts have been expressed right from the beginning of this nasty little business by journos - who are our only source - that "refusing to play" was the whole story. Bear in mind that Hodgson is a proven liar (over that garbage about Rafa having banned Kenny from Melwood). The eagerness of so many to believe him in this instance, and thereby save themselves the trouble of thinking about this for more than a nanosecond (which is the "rush to judgment" I'm talking about), baffles me. As for Masher's words on Saturday - why would he even care, why bother attempting to "ingratiate" himself now, if he really were the pantomime villain you lot paint him as being?

Who fucking cares JJ?

Seriously. Some folks think hes a dick who forced a move and left us in the shit.
Some think theres more too it than that.

I think hes a snidey little bellend and i think refusing to play (and i'll trust the word of MarkMc and Redshrek who told me at the time over any fucking hack) is sinful. And i wont forgive him.
That said i couldnt really give a shit if you, Themn or anyone else thinks hes ok, brilliant, missunderstood or if we only heard half the story. Thats fine. I also dont care why he chose to say to an English journo that it was for the Liverpool fans. Too little too late for me.
As SaintGeorge says, theyre really all the fucking same.

As Oncy says journos aren't our only sources at times. I know what I was told and who I believe JJ, you believe what the fuck you like. He disrespected this club by refusing to pull on that jersey so any good he did on the pitch is forgotten to me. Why does Masher care? - fuck knows - guilt? - but he's not shut up about LFC since he left - why is that ? I think all the bollocks about his wife being unsettled was bullshit too. I don't fucking care anyway he's gone and I don't want him back.

If you were promised a move, a fucking dream move at that, and you were playing for a team owned by liars who couldnt give a fuck and your window of opportunity was shrinking by the day .... yes i would refuse to play if it came to it.

He always gave his all and to be brutally frank was indeed too good for us at the end, indicated by the fact that he just played in one of the finest 11s ive ever seen in the biggest club game in the world. It isn't pleasant but if the club had done what they promised then he wouldnt have been in the position he was in, either when he was sold or indeed when the ambitious promises of building a trophy winning team were broken. He didn't have to say anything after the game the other night but he did and he took the time to give a salute to the fans of the team he used to play for... i say fair play to the man... yes it probably was unpleasant but that showed for me that he definitely did give a shit, in as much as footballer do nowadays.

Im not for a second suggesting he didnt do what was best for him. Clearly he did.
I dont see what point you are making.
He refused to play to force a move.
Cunt.
The end.

The club was owned by people doing a lot less for us fans than masher ever did, he was a damn fine player playing for a team on a massive inexorable financial slide and was promised a move to the best team in the world which didnt seem forthcoming....despite the club knowing damn well he wanted to go.... yes its a low move to refuse to play, i take your point and agree, but it was wholely understandable.

Nobody has the full picture on that either may i add.

My point revolves around him sparing a thought for all LFC fans and dedicating us a win we all enjoyed.... as apologies go for getting out of a shittily run club i'll take it, I didn't expect him to say that but he did and it was a nice gesture, I especially enjoyed watching Neville squirm. You can by all means continue to be bitter oncy but IMO life is too short, either way i enjoyed hearing him say those words.

He did give his all on the pitch, more than most, I think that's why it was all the more disappointing that he refused to play against City. We all knew he wanted to go but it was softened by him giving 110% everyweek, you don't do that though.

It's done now though and at least he's offered the olive branch, many a cunt has gone on to stab us in the back not just by leaving but by talking up their new clubs and playing down our own. Fair play.

Yes I agree you don't do that, but we don't know how far things had gone do we or what the exact situation was, we do know that our key players had been lied to by the owners and maybe just maybe he had had enough of watching the team die around him... I suspect there are 2 sides to the coin and finances most certainly were involved, EVERYBODY knew he was going to be sold EVERYBODY...

This old ground and no point opening the wound.

An ex player dedicating us a win which prevented Man U from glaoting like cunts is very welcome.

Yep never criticised the club once since he left:

Making his point: Mascherano criticised Liverpool for the way they handled the sale of Torres Barcelona midfielder Javier Mascherano has criticised former club Liverpool for the way they handled his departure last summer and striker Fernando Torres' exit on Monday. The Argentina international described as 'sad' the manner in which players had to leave a club they had served well. Following Torres' ?50million transfer to Chelsea on deadline day the Spaniard has been castigated for his comments suggesting he is much better off at Stamford Bridge than he was at Anfield. 'I was not surprised about what happened with Fernando,' Mascherano is quoted on espn.co.uk as telling a press conference today. 'When I left Liverpool, it looked as if I killed someone. It is sad that the people who did something important with the club have to leave by the back door. 'It is sad that the press and the club try to convince people that it is all the player's fault when the reality is that Liverpool didn't show the interest in keeping us in the club. 'The most important players didn't leave the club well. 'I spoke with Fernando and I said to him that he doesn't have to be worried because he did his best for the club. Pastures new: Torres joined Chelsea on transfer deadline-day 'Even though he didn't win any trophies, he was a very important player and helped this club all the time.' Mascherano's views are, however, slightly ironic considering he was offered a new contract by then Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez last April but stalled on signing it. Four months later, after it became apparent he did not want to remain on Merseyside, he eventually secured a £22million move to Barcelona

Im not bitter Molbys, i couldnt give a shit. I think hes a cunt, but i dont watch Barcelona so hes not my problem.
I LOVE Dirk Kuyt and Steve Nicol and Kenny Dalglish and Steven Gerrard and Deitmar Hamann and John Barnes and Ronnie Whelan and Many many other players like them.
Mascherano means nothing to me.

Fuck Masher. He gave his all when he played for us, but as said before here he refused to play for us when he was still under contract to the club. That's makes him a cunt. Anyone who disagrees is WRONG.

The club were not blocking him from leaving either. We just wanted a fair deal. Barca were being dickheads and wanted to pay around 15 million for possibly the world's best defensive midfielder. We had paid more for than that him and he'd become world class and Argentina's captain while at Liverpool. I don't think we were fucking him over, we were trying to stop Barca from fucking us over, which people at the club were quite entitled to do.

Some of Tony Barrett's tweets on the matter, who is obviously far better informed and connected than any supposed "ITK"

Mad how many claim to KNOW what happened with Mascherano when only those involved actually know. 2:32 PM May 29th via Mobile Web

One day Mascherano will tell his side of the story leading up to his departure from LFC. He came close to doing it once but stopped himself 2:03 PM May 29th via Mobile Web

Unless Tony Barrett says that Mascher never wanted to leave, that he never said he had to leave for his wife's sake, that he never said going to Inter would be a dream and was taking Italian lessons, and that he didnt refuse to play against Citeh to force a move, I dont care.
