Match day advice

I'm doing the match day stadium tour on Saturday which looks like it finishes at 8:30am.

I'll be doing the tour with a mate, but he does not have a match ticket so I'm thinking of leaving him in the King Harry during the game and meeting him back there after. Does that sound like a reasonable plan?

Looking for suggestions on what to do between the tour and the match, and advice on what time I should make my way into the stadium before kick off.

Also, if my mate decides he wants to a ticket badly enough to consider an overpriced scalp, where might he find one?

Lastly, for now anyway, suggestions for places to go post match?

Part 2:

I know a few of the old popular songs, and a couple of player songs, but I'd like to brush up during the 11 fucking hours I will be on the plane.
Anyone have a good reference for songs/chants?

Some on here might be able to help with ticket. @Woland I think.

Loads of chants on twitter.

Take a look at BOSS Night (@aBOSSNight): https://twitter.com/aBOSSNight?s=08

that will get you in the mood

Good ol' Woland is sorting me out for a ticket. My mate isn't a red (or even a footie fan), so I'm not fussed about his ticket enough to put anyone out. Seeing as he will be right there and he would like to experience a match, I just want to give him a possible option he can pursue himself.

British Airways could still fuck this all up with their strike...

All flights the day before and after mine have been cancelled. At this stage, mine is going ahead, but with a cautionary note that it could still be cancelled.

That would be pretty fucking brutal. This trip is already costing me the equivalent of 3 months salary and most stuff is non-refundable at this stage.

Brutal to hear about the strike potential for Your flight. Where are you coming in from?

Me and Fox went to Hotel TIA (2-300 mtrs from King Harry) pre and post match last home game. It was pretty cool as it offered beers, chips and the other games (nott he 3 pm kick off of course) on screens inside the pub. It was a nice beergarden over there with plenty singing supporters all around. I like King Harry too, but it might be Worth for Your friend to check out as maybe the tv spots and Comfort is better if he has to watch the match there. Ill ask around for tickets and let you know if any Luck anyway. Finger crossed for BA to not fuck this up.

Coming in from South Africa.

Thanks mate. Wait, so what's the deal with the match being televised on Saturday? Will it be showing in the pubs?

It is an early kick off so I assume it is being broadcasted live. It is only the 3 p.m. kick off that is not broadcastet live in UK?

For the Liverpool - Arsenal game they showed the 12.30 kick off game With Chelsea live in the pub, but could not even stream the United - Palace game at 3 p.m.

There is plenty to do around the stadium nowadays to eat up the time. I spent hours there between the tour and the game

Yep, what he said. Our match will be on, but at 2.45pm til 5pm no live football is allowed to be shown on a Saturday in England, so no 3pm game will be shown.

Also, Hotel TIA is pretty damn nice, & if I were to be hanging round for a couple of hours to watch the match I'd prefer to be there than in the King Harry (which I've done more than once in there).

Fuck, BA are delayed by at least 4.5hrs.

Eta at Heathrow is now 10am at best. I'm guessing making it Euston for a 12:05 train is going to be nigh on impossible?

Thanks. The whole Friday plan just sounds exhausting now, especially with the early start on Saturday for the stadium tour.

As such, I've just cancelled reservations at the Art School and cancelled the train tickets.

Trying to decide whether to prebook train tickets at a later hour without being certain of making it, or just arrive at Heathrow and bitch enough at BA that they get us to Liverpool.

Ask around for taxisharing from Heathrow. I'll ask my cabowner friend if he has any pick Ups. If enough people in the car it is not to bad price

Thanks mate. I guess it'll all depend on what time we actually get out of Heathrow.

We're just going to play it by ear when we get there.

There are plenty of options it seems. Planes, trains, and automobiles. What could go wrong?

So the latest is that there's another BA flight leaving a couple of hours after the original time of my flight, but 3hrs earlier than current estimate.

So I switched to that flight. Means I no longer get WiFi and an A380, but it does mean that I'll arrive (fingers crossed) at Heathrow at 7:20 and everything gets back on track.

So far, so good! The stressful bits are all out of the way now. Just chilling in an airport lounge waiting for boarding.

12hrs from now, I should be landing in Lahndan

How's the other flight looking now? More delayed? When you said it was already 4.5 hours late yesterday I thought it might be totally fucked

Seems it was delayed due to a delay on the London to JHB leg, so only that plane affected today. It's still scheduled for 4.5 later than originally.

Is it a European airline? If it is, you're entitled to some money back.
It's British Airways. Their offer was a full refund, or a free change in booking.

I guess if I was still on the delayed flight I could have pushed for compensation, but opted for the flight change.
