I've wanted to be very patient - and the early season results, in spite of the actual play - gave room to do that.

But I'm beginning to wonder about this team and how good it is. The pieces just don't fit together right.
 
This is AWFUL. Slott has taken on a team that knew what they were doing and just got on with it. Still don't know how we won the league last year but the rot was setting in towards the end of the season... Now it's his team we're going to see what he can do... And it's not looking good.... Bedding in blah blah blah.
 
The team just isn’t fluid, not a massive surprise as there are new partnerships across the entire pitch….but you’d have hoped to see one of those start to flourish….

Wirtz with Ekitike, Gakpo and Salah ( today Frimpong who he’s played with looked no more comfortable)
Centre backs with the full backs, holding midfielders with Wirtz or the wide players…..everything is slow and laboured.

I don't think the pieces fit that well last year either. But we had a couple things that worked well enough individually or in pairs to make up for some of the overall team play. We've completely changed this side, and we are also completely changing the system of play sometimes. It's not surprising it's not coming together.

I was just saying the same to my son. Ref has been abysmal and a joke of a pen decision. We’ve not been at our best and holding our own in a tough environment. Ekitike dangerous but our wingers are non entities. Bring on Rio and Bradley and shift Szobo higher.

Yep, I think a diamond at the base in Ali, Konate, VVD and Ryan….that work, absolutely everything else across the park right now isn’t.

It's not surprising but you don't get time at this level... It has to come together VERY soon.
