Liverpool twittersphere is in heightened alert mode after Paul Joyce has retweeted something by Mbappe. People are saying he also started following Alisson shortly before he signed. Nothing in this, surely?

Could be. We targeted him before PSG.

I just want to believe in this.

Cannot see how we could afford him, or if the other 'big' clubs would even contemplate him joining us. The last known super star we signed was Torres - for me he already had a reputation in Spain and turned out to be everything I expected, was shocked at the time we managed to sign him given the wealth of Chelsea at the time. I just cannot see this guy joining us, unless Fab has been on a joint tap up mission under direction from Klopp and FSG.

We were interested in 2017, but his next transfer will be a 200 mill + and astronomical wages. So I highely doubt we’d even try that.

If we somehow end up signing Mbappe for £200M or however much it will cost, this would signal the transition to the LFC Galactico era. I'm not sure I will like it, to be honest. On the positive side, we'll definitely win some trophies. But the negatives – the media circus, multimillionaire players and their entourage, lots of new prepubescent "fans" worldwide (who would otherwise be "fans" of Barcelona or Man City), arrogant cunts flocking towards supporting this team and giving LFC a bad name through their arrogant cuntishness – will be real and will definitely suck out some of the joy of winning those trophies. Klopp will probably get tired of this and leave for quieter pastures and we will fondly remember 2019 as the last year when this was truly our team.

That ain't gonna happen Rurik, Chill.
If Mbappe comes for a trillion quid or whatever, he'll have to put in a shift like any other player. He'll wana prove himself as the bestest there ever was and we get to have him in his prime before Madrid pay us 2 trillion quid for him.

I think the die hard LFC fans would make sure the arrogant cunts who flock towards the team are put in their place. This place being a microcosm of that I think.
Na, there won't be much sucking the joy out of us winning trophy after trophy for me.
Klopp will eventually leave, they all do for whatever reason.. if we managed to haul us in another few big trophies inc the Prem then decides to leave as the most successful manager in like 30 years then fair play.. he deserves to put his feet up.

Nah. Klopp wanted him before the move and we already have 3 of the best players in the world in VVD Mane and Salah.

We are a super star team now. All that was missing was big ears

Never happening.

I agree with you, but on the minor chance that this turns out to be true then I can only think it has to do with what @737Max has suggested above, it could involve the sale of Mane or Salah.

But I think the issue Rurik has raised is both unfounded and kind of over the top. LFC is already one of those clubs that has a world-wide following - and no doubt each year we get these "prepubescent" - because that is what big clubs attract. But those fans may go onto become normal in the end and stick to the team through bad and good times. It is how it always starts outside of the local support. But I don't think being part of a media circus is anything new to LFC - we had the 'spice boys', we had the tragic events in our history, and the fame associated with the 70's/80's successes both domestic and in Europe. Sometimes I think our own fans forget how fucking big we were as a club in this country and abroad. I also remember us smashing the world record transfer fee for Stan Collymore in the 90's. We did not evolve or rather maintain our galactico status back then because of the European Ban, and our own stubborn desire to keep that boot room tradition going after the King left.

Now if these rumours turn out to be true, then I can only think our owners have had a complete change in their thoughts of how this club should evolve and the direction it should take in player purchases - they were part of the parade, and they probably have never seen such a large crowd turn up from all corners of the country and make most of Liverpool Red. I really wonder if this club is bigger than anything that they had estimated previously - if so then just maybe they think the investment in these world superstars may put us on another level (we are talking Real Madrid level) especially with our successful history in Europe. It is all theoretical bollox but you just don't know what the American owners have in mind, and how they may have been affected psychologically by the celebrations.

You underestimate the sheer numbers of cunts in the world, my friend. Places like this one are but tiny islands in an ocean of thick bastards and arrogant cunts. We'd be swamped in no time.

Somebody should really illustrate this.

Does signing one mega star usher in an age of galacticos? I wouldn't see it that way.

Come on, rurik... don't deny Mbappe the chance to join the European champions and the only team with a defender faster than him.

It amazes me how many Aussies follow Juventus now because Ronaldo is there. It does seem like there are a large portion of young fans who follow players over teams

The only way we are getting M'Bappe is if we are being renamed as Barcelona (UK) or Real Madrid (UK).

I agree. Probably not both, but I'd say that Salah would be gone if we were signing Mbappe (which we're not, no way). Hypothetically though, he's one of the only players in the world that would soften that blow.

Mbappe has been chilling with Lebron James. Who also happens to own shares in us.

If Mbappe joins Liverpool, I’ll actually fuck a Scouse goat. (If this by some crazy miracle actually happens, please don’t make me do this.)

Nice problem to have, the manner in which you win trophies...

You know all, there has been so little info on what is going on regarding transfer incomings that this maybe true. But it definitely means Salah is out - we could get a load of money for him if Real are interested and he just reached 27 years of age...maybe the best time to sell him ?
