@the_khl - you're quoting the one side of the rumors. Plenty of other rumors about him being in Paris all the time, losing the dressing room etc ... The problem - it seems - with Laudrup is that l he doesn't seem to want to stay at a place for too long. He goes to clubs which are tough to succeed at, and does fairly well but his desire to leave always causes issues in his second season. I don't think he has a shot at any big club, and tbh, he should manage Denmark or an int'l team where he wouldn't have all the issues that it seems day-to-day management give him.
 
Heard on the radio earlier that he doesn't like to train if its raining, used to refuse to take training sessions if it was..
 
He traveled to Paris to celebrate his daughters birthday on Monday. "Being in Paris all the time".. haha... anyways...

You have a point with regards to him perhaps being better suited at Int. level., as he has certainly not exactly showed any signs of longevity so far.

Still wouldn't be surprised to see him get a seat at a big club but we'll see. I at least hope so as I believe he's a good manager, with potential to be great, but he obviously has his flaws and maybe even restrictions too.
 
He's obviously got ability, but his career record will militate against a big club appointing him. They don't tend to be short-termist in their thinking and Laudrup now has work to do to get rid of that label.
 
A hardcore Swansea fan called in to Talkshite this morning and said it's been coming and he's surprised that the press are behaving so shocked about it. He went on to say that it was all rosey under Rodgers, but when Laudrup came in he slowly started to take that style of football away from them and go into a more negative, defensive style of play, and when Michu's form ran out they were buggered. He said they'd been on a downwards spiral since he'd come in and him being given the boot was always coming sooner than later.

I thought they'd played pretty good football under Martinez and Rodgers, but this season I think Laudrup's style has shone through a bit more. And without Michu carrying the team.....
 
Seems like there are still a few stones to be turned. Slightly surprised that he seems so shocked about it as I thought he might have been wanting it himself after having been overruled on both transfers and backroom staff.

Michael Laudrup: Released statement through LMA


Former Swansea manager Michael Laudrup has confirmed he will take legal advice after being sacked by the club.
The Dane parted company with City on Tuesday night in the wake of a disappointing run of form that saw the club lose four of their last five Premier League matches, to leave them just two points above the relegation zone.
Despite a string of disappointing results, Laudrup's departure came as something of a surprise, with the club still involved in the FA Cup and Europa League.

"I am deeply disappointed to have been dismissed as manager of Swansea City. In particular, the manner in which it happened and the actions the club has taken since notifying me in the briefest of letters which gave no reasons why such hasty and final action was deemed necessary."​

Laudrup has now confirmed through a statement released by the League Manager's Association (LMA) that he may take the matter further.

"I am deeply disappointed to have been dismissed as manager of Swansea City," he said in the statement.
"In particular, the manner in which it happened and the actions the club has taken since notifying me in the briefest of letters which gave no reasons why such hasty and final action was deemed necessary.

"I am, of course, taking legal advice and the LMA have already written to the club asking for a proper explanation as to why I was summarily dismissed.
"Until we receive the response I am unable to say any more about the termination but I do want to take this early opportunity to thank the Swansea City fans for their continued support and say it has been an honour to manage this great football club.

"I leave the club proud of our collective achievements over the past 20 months and I believe we have continued the club's progression in the manner of my predecessors, including Roberto Martinez and Brendan Rodgers.

"The club has informed me that I cannot visit the training ground to say my farewells to the players so I do that now through this statement.
"The players have been fantastic and their contribution under the very professional guidance of my coaching staff has been absolutely fundamental to the club's recent successes.

"Whilst league results have been disappointing of late, we are still 12th in the table and it is there for all to see the fine margins in the league this season in terms of points that separate 11 clubs

"Although we have been unfortunate with injuries, I believe our league form would have improved and that we would have benefited from the forthcoming Europa League and FA Cup matches.

"I wish the club the very best for the future and for the rest of the season in the Barclays Premier League, Europa League and The FA Cup."

It is difficult to know what's up and down you just seemed very confident about his travels is all.

Huw Jenkins from yesterday:

"The fact is, Michael's time with us has come to an end. But I have found some of the things being said about him today hard to stomach.

"Much of it has been extremely unsavoury and unnecessary. Too many people have been trying to play the blame game and unearth disrespectful reasons behind his departure.

"We were quite open and honest in our official statement, because that's the way we are as a club.

"Since then we have tried to keep our own counsel on the matter because we have nothing bad to say about Michael.

"He deserves respect for what he has done in the game and you couldn't meet a more genuine and honest person. It's time to move on."

In today's Danish press Laudrup claims that 80-90% of the accusations towards him in the English press are either lies or extremely twisted truths. He then gives an example (though a bit far fetched perhaps) of being called a drug addict, when all you have done is having an aspirin a day for the past fortnight.

There may be truths from both sides here, all I am saying is that some of the accusations may or may not be true. You could even argue that the club would "like" these type of stories to hit the press, though Huw's quickly dismissing them as "unnecessary".

I didn't see one thing about 'drug addict' and no one said confidence ... My original point was:

I said there's two sides ... You are convinced by one side, I don't really care - just saying there's two sides here.

As for Jenkins' statements - would you announce that your manager had 'lost the dressing room' etc if that was the case? What good would that do if you hired the person etc? 🙂 I don't really care though - it would have been nice if they had done it after they played us but c'est la vie. Good luck to him and I hope he can shed the tag of 'Good 1st year manager'
 
I am not "convinced" about anything, I believe I said as much?

Anyways, let's beat Arsenal.
