Is he any good?

============
Valencia defender Miguel has revealed that he would love to link up with international team mate Raul Meireles at Liverpool.

Fresh from last night's Champions League defeat to Manchester United, the 30-year-old spoke of his admiration for the Anfield club but fears that he may have left it too late to secure a move to the Premier League.

Despite his fondness for Liverpool, Miguel, a wing-back by trade, insists that he is committed to Los Che, who are enjoying their first season back in European football's elite competition following years of financial turmoil.

He said: "Liverpool are a team that I admire and I have a friend there now in Raul Meireles.

"Liverpool have always been my favourite English team and I have a lot of passion for them.

"I'm fine here and hope everything goes well for Valencia and we can win some trophies this year."

Retired from international footy due to boswinga and co so that should extend his shelf life.

He absolutely raped evra for pace a few times the other night,so he's clearly not lost his legs just yet.

Yeah, watching him (Evra, Rafeal and Mathieu) the other night made me realise how much money we wasted on GlenJo.

It's no slight against Johnson, but we could have had an equally competent full back in the Miguel mould for 5-9m (max).

Unless we're talking about a prime Cafu, 18m for a full back is a scandalous waste of money.

Johnson was English and at his best is probably better than Miguel at his best.

Did Portsmouth end up paying the clubs they owed money to in the end?

I don't think Johnson was as bad a deal as is now being made out.

I don't think he's that much better than Miguel, if at all. Nor Evra or Rafael (haven't seen much of Mathieu.. though he played well the other night). And none of them went for anywhere close to 18m (all under £7m). To be honest, whatever way you weigh it up 18m for Glen Johnson was and is a very bad deal.

The point about Pompey's repayments and being English is arguably fair (what, with the new rules). But then, we could have had Kelly step up and bought English elsewhere (i'm sure Young/Milner/A.Johnson would have gone for the same price at the time).

That's a good question.

If they didn't, then getting JOhnson for about 11 million wasnt bad.

Still bad use of resources though.

We probably would have got the Crouch money in the end. They couldn't still be in business if they owed other clubs money, could they? (genuine question)/

Also, if we didn't sign him, GlenJo would have been sold to someone else.. and we'd have got our money that way. If he wasn't sold and they owed us money they couldn't pay, we could have forced their hand and got him for cheaper. Much cheaper.

As a player, he's not as bad as he's been playing (of late).. but he's far from 18m. Very far.

He looked a bit better last night, certainly more positive anyway. He still looks a yard slower though.

Is he carrying a bit more weight these days or is the new slimmer fitting shirt not doing him any favours?

I think it's a combination of the two.

Even Torres looked like he had a bit of a belly last night,.

No, he definetly is not. Johnson is better than Miguel.

For the last couple of years Miguel has done absolutly nothing.
