Spring training about to start.

I'm optimistic! Gonzalez can hit 40 homers with his home games at san diego... Fenway should be awesome.

Crawford
Pedroia
Youkilis
Gonzalez
Ortiz
Drew
Scutaro
Salty
Ellsbury

Potent!

Let the games begin.

The AL East is going to be crazy this year. Toronto look better with every deal they make and they somehow managed to offload one of the worst contracts in the game giving flexibility for more moves later in the year.

The Red Sox should be heavy favourites given the moves but Lackey and Beckett need to improve. I dearly hope the Yankees struggle as they should given that rotation.

I thought you were a yankee, or was that someone else???

Yup it's me. But since Liverpool's owners are owners of the Red Sox too, I've decided to switch my allegiances.

Ha ha ha!

You switched from the Yankees to the Sox? That's brill.

Also, seriously, how fucking long is the MLB season these days? Stop it. It's ridiculous.

I have absolutely no problem with having good sport on TV every night for six months

I'll have a major fucking problem if it starts pre-empting coverage of 1-A games at the start of next season.

;D

I was never a die hard Yanks fan anyway so, what the hell.

It's just baseball right, not football.

Is that college football ?

Yeah. Last season valuable games were missed because ESPN were showing rounders. Baseball's fine and everything, but let's not you and I pretend it's something men do.

Duke Snider, the longtime center fielder for the Brooklyn and Los Angeles Dodgers who was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1980, died on Sunday morning following an undisclosed illness, both the Dodgers and the Baseball Hall of Fame have announced. He was 84.

Snider was the Dodgers' primary center fielder from 1947-62 and generally is considered one of the greatest among a long line of superb players who have worn the Dodgers uniform during the franchise's long, storied history. An eight-time All-Star, he still ranks as the franchise's all-time leader in home runs (389) and runs batted in (1,271). He led all major leaguers in the decade of the 1950s with 326 homers and 1,031 RBIs, and he hit four home runs in each of the 1952 and 1955 World Series.

Ross - SI says that the Jays have two of the hottest pitching prospects in the bigs - both to play this year.

I presume one is Drabek that we got from the Phillies in the Halladay trade, who is the other ?

One was Drabek - and I don't remember who the other one is (It was the SI issue two weeks ago).

Josh Beckett dropped from #1 to #4.

Lester
Lackey
Buchholz
Beckett
Matsuzaka

I think lester and buchholz are on the lowest salaries, despite being the best two!

Ouch. Can his ego handle it?

Opening day only two days away.

I'm genuinely excited. The Blue Jays were better than expected and Anthropolous seems to be making the roster better with every deal. We could be in for another good year but I think we still have a lot to find to catch the Yankies and Red Sox.

MAy have tickets to the opening day game on Friday.

Deffo have tickets to the Saturday night game, possibly the Sunday game too.

Let's go f#$!ing Red Sox!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice.

I'm more than a little bit jealous. I was looking into a trip to LA / San Fran later this year and was trying to time it so I could take in a couple of games.

What are this seasons things to look out for ?

- Just how good are the Red Sox - and how good will the Rays and Yankees be given their respective issues ?

- Can the Giants and Rangers make it back to the playoffs / World Series ?

Red Sox - Phillies seems the obvious one, but it's rarely the obvious one.

On paper, you'd have to go with both of those teams.

And yes, "on paper" means nothing, but THOSE rotations are mental. Josh Beckett is our #4 starter, FFS! And we have no real injury concerns going into the season.

I'm very hopeful.

What an impressive start for the Texas Rangers ... Swept the BoSox with solid pitching and some great hitting.
