Has the site been hacked or something? What the fuck is up with all these pill/medicine ads? They were mildly amusing at first - Now they are irritating. Also genuine question - Who the hell would send these out???

They've must likely just discovered a way round the security measures to prevent the spammers. They do it, it gets fixed then they work on another way.
