I think he's playing at the same level he was playing when he was partnering VvD weekly and we though "Shit, he's arrived"
I think if he stays healthy, he's just a brilliant CB when he's at this level.
It doesn't happen often enough - considering his talent - but yesterday was top top class.

Macca (who whilst quiet, was efficient in possession and got 2 assists)

I took Gomez over Virgil, because the few times they almost did something, he provided the critical cover. VVD also had some blame for the goal.

I felt Gomez could have been better positioned to cut out the pass on the goal. But he was otherwise immaculate and his line breaking passing has really been on display the past couple matches.

I mean more when he didn’t get the ball when they were sitting in he did fuck all with it. No penetrating passes or runs. Zero creativity. Just recycled the ball sideways.
 
Not quite a clean sweep for Gakpo who almost took every 1st place.

Gakpo - 159 points
Salah - 48 points
Mac Allister - 43 points

Gomez misses out with 32 points.
