Watching the news last night, i ain't ashamed to admit i was a bit watery eyed.
When the 8 service men that died in Afganistan where flown back to the UK, i didnt think for a second they'd get the type of reaction they did.
Hundreds, maybe thousands of people lined the streets for miles in Wooton Basset etc. Ex service men in full uniform, wearing their medals and their flags hung, low saluted the fallen as they passed. People crowded bridges over the motorways as they were taken to an oxford hospital.
Kids as young as 18 fighting to enable us to sit around and chat shit about football and wifes piles. We might not agree with why they're doing it, but they are and we take it for granted. We dont have national service, and the closest most of us will come to war is paintball.
The poor lads leave behind family and friends. They get paid minimum wage and do a job i would quite frankly shit myself doing.
So, i just wanted to say thanks, for what its worth to anyone brave enough to defend our country and to protect the innocent of others. YNWA
