I’ve got a friend who runs a sports store in Melbourne. They stock a lot of football gear and stocked LFC shirts every year.

Nike have just told them, sorry we are only stocking Rebel Sports with LFC shirts. Rebel Sports are the biggest sports retailer in Australia with stores all over.
Nike have said they don’t have enough stock for anyone other retailers.

As you can imagine my friend who’s a big Liverpool fan is livid. It doesn’t help the situation that to stock any Nike merchandise they make you stock all of the shirts so they’ve had to purchase shit like PSG and sell fuck all over the last few years.
Now Nike has a big team that will sell in Australia and they say sorry, you have to stock every other team but we are providing LFC stock to Rebel.

The whole point of Nike was that we wouldn’t have stock issues.

Have people seen any similar stories emerge in other countries?

It seems weird to me.

Maybe their production line got hit by a pandemic. That, or they're deliberately slowing sales to build exclusivity. But I'm sure it'll be back on the shelves soon.. The stain hasn't even started

According to one of the reporters at the echo the demand has been wayyyy higher than Nike or the club imagined.

Nike are big enough that they will have it remedied a damn sight quicker than new balance would, I have no doubt about that, £70 for a piece of red material, £100+ if you what some numbers & shiny badges on it? It's like printing fucking money.

Those Bangladeshi kids are gonna eat well this year!

Relatively well, obviously.

They won't be given lunch breaks if the demand is as FFF says. It'll be the same as ever for them
Slave trade..

They will be on 50p an hour, but will face wage reductions if they don't reach target..

No bonus for reaching target, just that the incentive is that they will get paid for reaching it..

Last year NB sold 2.9m shirts, this year with that design I would imagine it was way more.
Look how far the club has come

Maybe Nike have agreed exclusivity - if that is what they need to do to make more money and in turn is part of the reason they are giving us money, so be it.

Naturally, it would be great if if were stocked everywhere. Maybe the situation will change in a month or so.

Couldn't give much of a fuck, but you would imagine COVID is affecting global trade and trade routes around the world. I'm just glad to see the demand is still there. I thought a largely commission-based deal would begin to look suspect as we enter a global recession. Thankfully it appears our success has glossed over that and sales look extremely strong. Nike will have certainly done a much better job than NB at getting this around the world. If Nike can't then really, who can?

The club shop is running out of kids kits in the morning and telling people to come back tomorrow first thing every day.

Pretty sure this is Gmail invite type marketing

Its not at all unusual to grant a major retailer a time limited exclusivity on a product like this in return for securing advertising, floor space etc. The vast majority of the new seasons kits will be sold between Sept and Christmas, id imagine Rebel have agreed to pretty favourable terms (from Nike's perspective) to get a monopoly for a portion of that window.

Mine should be arriving tomorrow though - had to get it from nike.com rather than the club store as the online store is offering much later shipping times (presumably as it has a bigger back log).

Did you get the fancy one for £100?
