It's been an exciting few days here.

So tonight I went to the supporters club knees up in midtown NYC.

Rush and fowler showed up and they were great. Place was packed either a few hundred fans, doors were closed after supporters club members packed it out.

I got to ask a question, and great answers. Photos to follow..

I asked what were their favorite managers and why / Fowler gave a long speech on Houllier, and then said Evans. Rushy said Bob Paisley. God praised Rafa too.

Yankee stadium tomorrow night. Was going but I have to work.

Separately, A mate called me, and left a message to call him back on Sunday. I took two days.

Turns out he had tickets to training in Princeton. Took a selfie with KD. Aaaaaargh, he could have told me when he left the message.

part of me thinks these tours are bullshit and just another money making scheme but i guess they allow fans from far away a chance to see the team and get involved in events like this.

They 100% are, but it's also a chance to play quality opposition! which we would do anyway. Plus, yes, us far flung fans get to mingle. And they were great tonight, terrific banter,

Rodgers has been great in his PR on this tour. While he may (or may not) privately wish he could have his pre-season back in England or Europe instead, he's not betrayed that in public, and been saying all the right things to woo fans. Here's what he said in a recent interview:

[article]He said: "We were very well received when we came over here two years ago. It was my first pre-season and I absolutely loved it - it provided a great platform for our work.

"The service in America is incredible. The hotels, the training grounds - people can't do enough for you. I think that's what attracts people here - the warmth you receive when you get here.

"We as a football club have an obligation because we are Liverpool and are one of the biggest football clubs in the world. There is no hardship to come out here and reach out to some of our great supporters.

"Our concentration is always football, but we have an obligation to support and meet a lot of our great supporters over here.

"The American game has definitely improved as well. We have visited some excellent facilities since we've been here. We were at Princeton today - a brilliant facility and the pitches were superb.

"It provides a great base for teams to come, work on the field and hopefully will provide a great platform for the season going forward."

Journalists gathered at the team hotel in Manhattan were eager to gauge Rodgers's thoughts on whether he felt the tour had any kind of adverse effect on groundings for the start of the season.

"It's been very simple - we've been planning for this for six months," he said. "We haven't just turned up. We were working away six months ago.

"The main objective for us is football, that's always clear in how I work. Everything else fits around that. The balance in our trips here is very much football-based. But we have an obligation to our supporters and our partners, who support the club financially, to embrace them.

"There's no hardship. We've been to some wonderful cities. We had a few days in Chicago, which was great and we played a very good game. We were in Boston, which was brilliant, and now we have come to one of the greatest cities in the world and we look forward to being here.

"Then we'll move on finally to Charlotte. For us, it's no chore. It's been great to be here."[/article]
Contrast that to the whinging and moaning by Van Gaal and Wenger. Very classy stuff by our manager. Yeah, it might not be the ideal preparation, but the least the managers could do was keep it in the boardroom.

A long speech about Houllier? He must still harbour a long list of grudges...

He tends now to be quite balanced about it (he doesn't quite admit he was a bit of a tit at times but he acknowledges he wasn't always easy to manage) and says they get on okay these days.

The stadium was packed red. there was one section of 50 by 50 sky blue. And almost the rest was red with a little smattering of blue.

It was pretty amazing. I went nuts singing with some random lad I just met. It was cool to see such passion for Liverpool. A lot more fans then I really expected. I think the sport has really grown tremendously here.

Raheem is definitely the Suarez replacement. His finishing looks like it is much improved and ready to take on the burden we will inevitably place on him. His incorrectly judged as offside goal really made me sad about last years similar call at the Eastlands. Is he too fast for linesman?

I love Emre Can already. He was so cheeky in warm ups. Throwing tricks and feints to make the monkey in the middle look silly. Then in the game he absolutely bollocked the City defender for taking the ball off Raheem roughly. He's like the combination of a defensive midfield enforcer and a tricky winger.

Looks like fun. So I was raging, I didn't get to the game. I was working a Bayern Munich event in the city. on the plus side, I met Markus Babel and took a photo with him. he was approachable, and in good form.

Edit: I got a selfie with Markus!

Hey, localny, apparently there was a supporters club knees up in midtown NYC. Did you go, and, if so, did you ask anything?

Screw the T-shirt, is Lucas actually wearing that shirt with a gold necklace?

Saw those photos yesterday somewhere.

I'll never understand why grown men want to wear t-shirts on a night out. It's not like they can't afford better is it?

And the shirt Lucas has on. He looks like a special needs child.

The shirt Lucas has on is about par for the course on sale in upscale Brazilian shopping malls. My fashion budget on that trip ended up not getting spent.
