Norwich vs Liverpool Match thread

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
A match thread eight pages long.
We must have won.

We won and that's all well and good, but is everyone happy with how we played?

*Cue barrage of insults.

It was pretty boring up until we scored and then we bossed it apart from a 10 minute spell in the second half. Wasn't an outstanding performance but not a poor one either.

We have played better and lost on occasions this season.
I don't particularly recall you ruing our bad luck after those matches or even cursing our profligacy.
We won.
We scored three goals.
Little room for most to complain I guess.

I felt like this guy for most of the game:

Of course we have and I'm happy we won.
I just watched Kenny's post match interview and he hails it as a great team performance.
I personally think the back line did well, despite not being really threatened, but our midfield bar Gerrard and maybe Shelvey was below par. There were so so many back passes in the game that Reina probably felt more involved than some of our players today. We just couldn't pass our way passed the halfway line at times.
Looking back we were more or less gifted three goals.
Goal 1: Gerrard steals the ball from an unaware Norwich player.
Goal 2: A defender fails to clear a ball.
Goal 3: Pretty much the same as goal nr 2.

Suarez finishing was world class though and I can't think of many hatricks better than the one I saw today.

I'm just worried about Chelsea that's all. That performance wouldn't hurt a Chelsea team that just knocked out Barca.
The likes of Hendo and Downing really need to step up their game. Bellamy didn't do too well either.
That's mainly the reason why I complained about the late subs.

So you expected kenny to say what, that we weren't that good but for a few glimpses of class from two players?

Yeah, sounds likely.

You're either a massive wum, or a massive tool Modo, I haven't quite decided which.

I really don't care. Neither, I guess.

I wasn't that impressed with the performance, if it bothers you then so be it. I personally expect more.

personally speaking I thought we were really good. we shut the crowd up and gave them next to nothing to cheer. for the most part we kept the ball, except carra who was hoofing as if he were making up for lost time and we were in the main quite clinical, well, clinical for us.

a very good away performance.

Ok, last week we fucking battered a side, yet got beat.

This week we don't play too well, but win 3-0.

So I guess you were happier last week, cos the performance was better.

Here we go. Exactly the response I wanted.
Yes I was happier, during the game I might add.
The game was frustrating but entertaining and that's the type of football I want to see us playing.
Had we played that well today and scored three "gifted" goals I would've been over the moon.

Coming out of a match I've paid £50 to watch, losing 1-0 but playing well feels so much better than forking out £50 plus travel to watch us win 3-0 and play above average.

Yea fucking right

I was happier during today's game simply cos for much of it we were winning, not drawing.

Your last sentence I agree with obv, but the rest of what you said is complete nonsense, you play footy to win, not to look pretty or to entertain neutrals, no matter what arsene wenger & the sky generation media would have us believe.

I feel you, but from where I'm sitting....😉
You've got a point but I'm looking for positives ahead of the Chelsea game.
Totally dominating a team at home makes me feel better than being subdued away and winning by three mistakes. Should've sugar coated it a bit, but it is what it is.

Positives from today Agger isn't dead, Gerrard bossed a game for a change and Suarez was unplayable at times.

That makes me happy.

Maybe Modo should support Arsenal or West Ham as they play pretty football with little success. Results are everything, performance is an added bonus. And as for gifted the 3 goals today....... Do me a fucking favour. They were 3 excellent finishes from difficult angles. Yes they gave the ball away 3 times, but that was due to excellent pressing high up the field. Something Rafa used to insist on. You like Rafa don't you Modo? Was he gifted hundreds of goals too? Total WUM and posts more shit than the RSPCA

We've got nothing to play for in the league.
Had we been in a race for 4th, the title or in a relegation battle I would've felt the same. A win is a win.
But we're up against Chelsea next week and I don't think how we played today is encouraging.
We weren't poor, far from it, but I'm saying that we need to play better than we did today to beat that team.
Downing and Hendo shouldn't be anywhere near the line up based on today's performance, but they still got 90 mins.

I'm done. I'll give you the last word(s).

Seriously, Arsenal? I wish we were in the Champions league like Arsenal.

I am all for critical analysis , even when it seems like we have had a comfortable win.
Perspective is a good thing and should be used to view victories and defeats alike.
However when someone who is normally extremely critical of our defeats, irrespective of the performance that went with it, wants to critque our victories, it is an easy assumption to make that the same poster is simply pursuing a negative agenda full stop.

We should be aiming to finish as high as possible. I have this thing called pride, I hope my club has the same thing. I can't take a summer of them gobshites reminding me they finished higher, even if we do the double.
