Sounds like bollocks to me.

MANCHESTER CITY believe they have won a £42million race for Carlos Tevez and Gareth Barry.
The richest club in the world are ready to rubber-stamp a £32m deal to steal Tevez away from city rivals United. And they will offer £10m-rated Barry £90,000 a week to see off Liverpool, Arsenal and Spurs.

The move for Argentinian striker Tevez, 25, also blows Liverpool and Chelsea out of the chase with City happy to meet Kia Joorabchian's £32m asking price. Liverpool's bid for the former West Ham forward was the lowest offer received. Boss Mark Hughes will also pay Tevez nearly £140,000 a week in a four-year deal.

Joorabchian will have one final meeting with Old Trafford chiefs this week to find out whether Sir Alex Ferguson sees Tevez as anything more than a bit-part player. Those assurances are unlikely - leaving the way clear for City.

Hughes is in the Middle East to talk about transfer targets with City's Abu Dhabi owners and has made it clear he sees Tevez as vital to the club.

City are much further down the road with Tevez than Barry. But they are confident their financial clout will get them the Aston Villa captain. Liverpool felt they were in pole position after their abortive attempt to land Barry, 28, last summer. But the Reds are unable to match the Arabs' vast wealth.Barry could yet decide he values Champions League football over money but Eastlands officials are confident of getting their man.

If any player goes to City then they are nothing more than money hungry mercenaries and we're better off without them.

So we bid the lowest for Tevez, thus prompting lots of hacks to claim we were favourites to get him. And O'Neill's £18m price on Barry has now been downgraded to £10m for clubs not in the Champions League. Great illogical waffle as usual.

If I'm being completely honest, City can have both of them.

We can spend our money much more wisely this summer buying far superior players than Tevez and Barry.

QFT

I highly doubt Barry would go there anyway.

Tevez might because like Robinho, he seems to have a high opinion of himself

So how fucked are Valencia financially now they've failed to get in the Champions league? Would the sale of Villa and Silva be enough to cover their debts or will it have to be more widespread?

Can they really dictate how much they want to receive for all their sellable assets?

Would love both Silva and Villa here.

Thread summed up in one line.

If they sell Villa and Silva for about 200m each then they may cover their debts.

With Man City around anything is possible. ;D

as far as I know they have crippling debts and have to sell, there is a board meeting on June 6th.

The players have contracts with Valencia and do not have to be sold against their will i.e they can't be told to go to City but they wont be short of offers anyway.

But it'll be the players decision where they want to go though.

On the basis that Rafa wanted to sign both, I'd like to think that Silva would choose us over other clubs, especially with the Macia connection. Not sure Villa would do the same though. I think he'll want to stay in Spain.

Fernando Torres has urged Liverpool to sign Valencia duo David Silva and David Villa during the close-season.

It is thought that Los Che may have to cash-in on a number of their most prised assets this summer in order to help ease some of the huge debts they have reportedly accrued.

The 25-year-old is confident that his team-mates at international level would provide the Reds with that extra bit of quality required to mount a serious challenge for silverware on more than one front next season.

"Villa and Silva would complement Liverpool greatly," Torres told Spanish sports newspaper Marca.

Following Barcelona's victory over Manchester United in the Champions League final on Wednesday, the debate has continued over which league is stronger; the Premier League or Primera Division.

"It is difficult to say which league is better, but The Premiership (sic) is more competitive because the British are becoming stronger and players are coming to England," Torres remarked.

maybe he can help us at the confederation cup !

Villa (or his agent) has stated repeatedly for years that he wants to stay in Spain and has no desire whatsoever to test himself in England. Barca or Real have to be his most likely destinations.

Silva, on the other hand, though possibly courted by Barcelona, might just fancy a move to Anfield - fingers crossed.

I read that unless they can sell the land at the old Mestalla or get some money in from somewhere, the administrators will have to be called in. It's a real sad state of affairs.

We won't be able to afford Villa though. He'll go to Madrid or Barca (if they sell Eto'o).

[/quote]They have an awful lot of saleable assets. Im sure they'll survive. May be a youth team this time next year mind you.

Barry will look like a cunt if he goes from Villa to Citeh. And I think villa have a better chance of getting CL football next season anyway.

City will be linked with everyone this summer, but it will probably end up with them signing the Bellamys and not David Villas..

I would be perfectly happy if this was true - I don't think we really need either Barry or Tevez. Xabi and Silva is a better combination. Let's play like Spain, not England.

The thing is this...............not that everyone should in universal agreement on if those two particular players are required or not, that is down to personal opinion (I think one is and one isn't), but , if true, what is happening, is what a lot of supposedly knowledgeable people , said would not happen.
That is firstly City would not be realistic obstacle to any of our targets, and secondly they were not going to fuck up transfer prices.
It's Chelsea all over again, just when we need to have a good shot at recruiting a couple of key plalyers our plans are going to be thwarted by some Johnny-come-lately's

regards
