Does anyone really give a shit bout the Beijing Olympics ?

It's the world's biggest sporting event yet it never fails to attract more than a minute's worth of my attention.

And even if I'm forced to, I'll most probably follow a bit on the Men's Basketball, Soccer (obv), 110m men's hurdles, badminton and that's about it really.....

How bout you lot ? Will you be following and if yes, which event ?

I'll watch it because its on late at night.
I like the gymnastics a lot, i think thats humanity at his most impressive.

I fucking hate the gymanistics. It is made even worse as you cannot ogle the female contestants as they are about 9 and the blokes all look gay.

I'm not interested in athletics. Like most people, I suddenly get interested in athletics when the Olympics come along, and there is a lot of hype about how many gold medals GB will win. However, there is a falsity about this because the athletes are mainly competing for themselves and not for their country.

When the Olympics are over, and GB has won a small number of medals, there will be a national outcry and the "Daily Mail" will start some kind of campaign to ensure that we win loads of medals in the London Olympics. Then everybody will forget about athletics again until 2012 comes round.

We always win enough in the toffs sports to keep the Express out of the picture though.

Couldn't give a chuff about the Olympics. Not since those halcyon days when Coe, Thompson and Wells were stuffing it to Jonny Foreigner.

I don't see the point of gymnastics, it is such an objective "sport" that the it really depends on who is judging and what mood they are in as to who wins. In fact it isn't just gymnastics it is all sports that require a panel of judges that have the final decision on who wins leaving it open to corruption and bias. At least in boxing you can still knock the opponent out and not give the judges an opportunity to interfere.

Don't get me wrong there is a lot of skill involved in gymnastics but I consider it to be more of a dance rather than a sport.

Youre right about the scoring, but im not interested in who wins.
The very shittest person on the beam/vault/rings/bars/floor will still be fucking amazing to watch and will still make me marvel at what the human being is capable of.
Fuck the trinkets did you see that cunt do a forward pike, triple back flip, punch front!? Wow!

NO.

Anyone seen the new multimillion £ birds nest stadium?

Nope, neither have the Chinese, you can't see it from more than 400metres away because of the smog.

Hmm 100 meters dash, the relay and same for swimming.
Maybe a bit of boxing and tae kwan do...hmm that's about it really. Football? meh

Definitely going to watch the boxing, maybe a bit of football, hockey and the sprints.

Anything else is pretty much shite. Absolutely hate the swimming.

Canada is shite at the Olympics, esp. Summer Olympics. I'm much more interested in being a cynical cunt and complaining about the lack of government support, excess of fat children, and other factors involved in us declining as a sporting nation.

I always announce how I will no watch a single minute of the Olympics, then proceed to stay up until 4am watching the GB handstand team 3 hours into their 'Tower of Power'.

Addictive stuff, wish it wasn't.

Looking at the place, the runners are going to need GPS and breathing gear. Its a nasty place.

I'll watch the footy, cycling, some bits of the track and field, but no much.
